I just think it'd be nicer to say "some of her fans" rather than "OMG HER FANBASE ARE CRAZY" - because let's face it, she has fans from all age ranges and backgrounds, and I hardly think any self respecting adult who likes her music will be going round going "OMG I know, let's start a rumour on twitter about Madonna". I used to be a massive fan of her, mainly during her "Fame/Monster era" I think Alejandro was when i started to get bored tbh.

Born This Way is just a mess and I really hope ARTPOP flops to the extent where she has to re-think her style and actually start to put some effort into making the different music she boosts about making. .

maybe its the Cider talking now lol XD....but gaga can market whatever she wants however she wants....at the end of the day it is all subjective what we like and dislike about stuff...in my opinion The Fame is an awful album, and The Fame Monster hasnt aged well at all bar Alejandro (great summer stuff there!) Dance In The Dark of course. But Born This Way...after over a year since release it is actually overall her most cohesive album....take a third of the album material out and most likely it would be close to perfect to be honest....Bloody Mary, Electric Chapel, Schiesse, Hooker, Edge, Hair, Heavy Metal Lover, Americano....now THEY demand the repeat button!

all this hate is entirely meaningless in the general consensus of things, i personally do not care about these apps or whatever....ARTPOP *shudders* will be its own album and i will judge it to see what direction she is going in here with it...it can only go one of 10 ways

the concept of "decay of fame", the rumoured Azealia Banks, Lana Del Rey team ups (i love them so so much!!!) and the idea of bringing Madeon (heavily speculated) on board with the Dance/Underground/Up and coming kinda trend should be an exciting one indeed.

So lets us all see....and i dont care if she rips off "Madonna, Bjork, Prince, Elton, grace jones" etc etc etc....we all learn from the best and provide our own perspectives and angles ....lets all just have some fun shall we!!

For me JP its not so much about her marketing or what she is employing its the over use of such stunts and concepts that in her case it has become tiresome and im judging on the BTW campaign that she set herself up and ultimately not flopped but in a round about way failed when gaga simplifies things and usess ideas i.e the fame monster to translate her art as it were she excels and is brilliant i think at this point in the game she needs to step back stop and just release a mammoth pop album to regain her crown, potential and casual fans.

The wya i look at it Katy Perry like or hate her and she may not have sold as many albums but enough and went from somone on the periphery to a world wide superstar with a simple idea a good album and a succession of great videos and a visually stunning and enticing tour if gaga can bring it back to basics keep her crazy fans on a leash she will be where she wants to be and can polarize and release apps til the cows come home.

But on a more serious note, i totally see that..but much like i am with Cher, Elton et al i am neutral when it comes to gaga tbh sure it seems bombast and too much but heck i am not into this "ARTPOP is more than an album its an experience, its an app, its a game, its a shoe, its a walky talky..." nonsense...its just merchandising at the end of the day for a contemporary technology world, her hardcore fans will lap it up and that be that .....but tbh i am focused mainly on whether i will enjoy her music or not lol...which is always what it comes down to.

Its basically a smaller scale version of Disney land....here is the new ride, toys, posters, merchandise, rollercoaster....but the film is out in 18 months time...thats that feeling i have about it...too much but...will the album be good???

interesting about Katy Perry...again neutral....i am with all current "popstars" these days...they may be fun and catchy but they aint no Britney :sleep: But Katy Perry s like a smaller scale, miniature, contemporary cut of Madonnas career...not comparing like for like (FFS id hate myself if i did!) but in terms of reception....One Of The Boys took a while to hit up then BAM Lesploitation superhit....sold a few million, she was known...second album BAM BAM twice struck...now a popstar superstar, sold better, tour sell outs, an image created for young audiences.....lets see where album 3 takes it and see if i am right....album 3 she has said will be dark, personal, reflective....will it bring casual listeners and previous nay sayers in???? will it be too experimental and therefore kill her current fanbase??? time will tell, just interesting analysis there....but avain not comparing just finding it interesting is all

totally, gaga must play it right or she goes the Cyndi Lauper route, known, talented but miscalculated and slipped by on the wayside....i mean Cyndi has a mini-legacy of her own...and there are similarities there....label pushing the artists the wrong ways etc....but thats the way it works now in pop music, its live fast, make your name, sell sell sell

And yeah Katy may end up like Paula if she doesnt play it right....and totally as a debut its a solid introduction....the follow up aintains and pushes further and album 3 should certify a new height...will be interesting, i mean i am not a massive fan (my brother is though haha so that means i have to like her haha!) but i am intrigued fo where these chicks are headed XD.
