Well, hope they don't get sued! That's the last thing they need. That could pretty much finish them off. I wouldn't write Blackberry off just yet. This is new territory for them, an all touch screen phone. They have got developers onboard this time and I have a playbook and the Playbook OS is very very good. The new phone OS will be similar with the same core technology.

Whilst Apple and Android bite chunks out of each other, good opportunity for the other players to come up with something. You just never know in the tech world.

Shame RIM don't have a marketing team though. That's one area they SERIOUSLY need to work on. I'm in a good position anyway. My contract is up early next year. Will see what is available.

Whilst Blackberries are still reasonably popular here, they died a quick death in the U.S.A (a much larger market) quite some time ago.

I've seen a number of tweets from americans who visit the UK saying things like "Blackberry is still a thing here, how quaint".

Moving away from the keyboard is going to be a big mistake imo.

Why so? And they are not abandoning the keyboard they wil still have a line of phones with a physical keyboard. They are just re-entering the full touch screen market. Pretty late in the day though. But the consumer needs choice and thats a good thing. I don't have any brand loyalties, if i spot a good device that caters for my needs I don't really mind what it is.

I've never owned a bb phone, but I wouldn' rule it out. Would like to see what it is like when it's out.

I think they need the keyboard as that is one of the defining features of the blackberry. Once they get rid of that what will they have to set them apart? Only BBM, although I can't understand all the fuss when there are free apps you can download that work across all platforms/operating systems like what'sapp

They are known for their keyboard phones but I think it would be foolish to not have a touchscreen model in their line-up.

This one does look nice – and since I have a PlayBook it’s something I am more likely to consider.

If some phones will have the keyboard than that's fine but if they get rid of it completely I think the brand will suffer more than it already does as the keyboard is what draws a lot of people to them.

I think this keyboard thing has been more a problem than a plus point in the last few years. It has limited their appeal to the wider phone buying population who dont want a physical keyboard. It's still a small group who actually want that. It's not where they will make their money. It took them a long time to realze that and know that they have to get back in to the touch screen world, or sink whilst trying to keep the physical keyboard crew happy. Each model being released looked and behaved pretty much the same way, BB have been stagnating for a good few years now.

I personally wouldn't buy a BlackBerry without a keyboard.. I had the Storm 2 years ago, which was terrible. Obviously BB10 is going to be a whole new operating system, but if I wanted a touch screen I would get a Samsung/HTC, I still can't see BlackBerry competing with the big players in terms of touch screen phones.

I will probably buy a BB10 BlackBerry, but it will be the Keyboard Version.

They needed BB10 in 2009. 2013 is way to late however nice it may be.

Why too late? There is always an opening for a new OS to come in. Android showed that it could compete against iOS and if it's good and marketed correctly BB10 could do well as well.

Too early to say either way isn't it? I will hold judgement until the phone is out. Yes it's late, very late can't argue with that. It will be hard but not impossible to make a dent in the android iphone shootout. Have to remember it was Blackberry that crashed the party when they introduced the first smart phone,

who is to say they cant make some impact again? Perhaps they are coming in at a good time, compared to a few years ago where Apple were untouchable and Android became a major player Now, the Iphone isn't showing many signs of innovation and the android world is heavily saturated (Not knocking Android, I have one right now) But if they get their marketing game right and offer a solid, functional user friendy alternative to what is out there, they could well find themselves in a better position to kick on, if they happen to build some momentum.
