It's not really mad given the big promotion for it, though. I expected higher than a 3.2m peak, in all honesty.

So every relaunch has actually resulted in a drop in audience for Daybreak?

Hopefully it will grow.

Weird to think about the amount of negative press Christine and Adrian got, but Daybreak had it's best audience figures when they were hosting it. Since they were axed audience figures dropped and now they've dropped again.
I stuck with Daybreak, even though I never really warmed to Adrian and Christine, but Lorraine.. no, sorry. I've enough familiarity with her to know that she really is not what I want in the morning. The only good thing about the Lorraine segment was that she never seemed to be there to present it!

Gave it about an hour on Monday (~6.15-7.15) and switched to Sky after that; although I've dipped into BBC Breakfast I haven't been back to Daybreak and I haven't missed it.

Anyone got any other morning ratings?

BBC Breakfast
Sky News Sunrise
C4 Breakfast
Milkshake (can't be far behind Daybreak?)

The Daybreak audience is about the same as the last days of GMTV.The Chiles/Bleakley Daybreak only improved the ratings for a very short time, presumably curious viewers seeing what all the fuss was about.

Why do people bemoan others about posting about TXF/DW? These are the biggest two shows on at the weekend at present so obviously people are going to discuss them. Can't you just skip through the comments you are not bothered about?

Does anyone have the figures for Paralympic Breakfast as well, I'd be interested to see how thats doing compared to Daybreak as I really like it and think it could be a breakfast show in its own right after they're finished with the para's, wondered if the ratings would be worth channel 4 looking at it?

The Daybreak audience is about the same as the last days of GMTV.
I have seen you repeat that a number of times and it's not true.
For the 6-8.30 part of GMTV

* GMTV last 3-months average: 0.83m (22.4%)

The Chiles/Bleakley Daybreak only improved the ratings for a very short time, presumably curious viewers seeing what all the fuss was about.
Chiles and Bleakley's Daybreak average was 20% down on the final year of GMTV. Apart from its first day, it was always down year on year.

Could C4 have had better ratings, an extra million, if the presentation had been different?

It's not clear when an event's due, the BBC has been better flagging up the times of exciting races.

They must expect the highest rating of the paralympics for athletics tonight at 21:15?

Now all that is need are the trending figures for Twitter and while at it tot up programme related messages on Digital Spy to see if Twitter or Digital Spy are inline with the TV ratings.

Three cheers for D.M.N.

Indeed, that's exactly the point. Four of the 5 channels had shows that you could quite easily have imagined topping the ratings at 9 and those programes look as if their ratings are within about 1m of each other. Dallas did a bit better than I thought, I was thinking 2.5m ish. And promotion of a programme/ film is no guarantee of ratings/box office success, there are myriad examples of this.

Yeah. DMN could do all that. You don't mind do you DMN?

I knew Twitter trends were absolute pony for ratings predictions when ITV's Last Comic Standing was boasting of trending worldwide and when ratings came out they were battered by New Tricks.

Very true. 5m for Dallas was very optimistic, 2-3m is far more realistic.

From Media Guardian:

Who watched JR? 2.9m tune in to Dallas - The return of US mega-soap Dallas after 21 years off the air averaged 2.9m viewers for Channel 5

Dallas returned to Channel 5 with nearly 3 million viewers on Wednesday, while new ITV1 drama Mrs Biggs debuted with just over 4 million.

The US drama, back after 21 years with a mixture of new stars (Jesse Metcalfe) and old (Larry Hagman, Patrick Duffy) averaged 2.9 million viewers (13.1%) between 9pm and 10.15pm on Wednesday.

This was nearly double Channel 5's average share in the slot over the last three months.

Mrs Biggs, the Jeff Pope drama about the Great Train Robbery from the point of view of Ronnie Biggs' then wife Charmian, played by Sheridan Smith, had 4 million viewers between 9pm and 10pm, an 18.4% share.

The ITV1 drama was narrowly beaten by BBC1's Who Do You Think You Are?, featuring Annie Lennox, which had 4.1 million viewers (17.9%), also between 9pm and 10pm.

Over on BBC2 the last episode of the second series of comedy drama Vexed, starring Toby Stephens, finished with 800,000 viewers, a 3.6% share, including 36,000 on BBC HD.

Channel 4's evening Paralympics show had an average of 2.5 million viewers, an 11.8% share, between 7.30pm and 10.30pm, with a five-minute peak of 3.3 million.

Earlier, All Star Mr and Mrs returned for series four on ITV1 with 3.7 million viewers (17.1%) between 8pm and 9pm.

It beat the last of BBC1's gardening show, The Flowerpot Gang, which finished its four-part run with 2.2 million viewers, a 10.3% share, also between 8pm and 9pm.

Channel 5's Celebrity Big Brother: Live Eviction, which saw the exits of former Coronation Street star Julie Goodyear and someone called Prince Lorenzo, was watched by 1.9 million viewers (11.6%) between 10.15pm and 10.45pm.

Hmmm....they'll be 'happy' but its a bit of a wasted opportunity if you ask me. Should have done better quite frankly, maybe it was the night Ch5 picked, maybe they marketed it wrong. Its decent, if it stays up.

CBB meanwhile posted another set of slightly on the low side ratings. This is down to Dallas ofc, but still makes for not a 'great' night for Ch5.

ITV1 took a hit though. Not quite sure how the hell WDYTYA stood up so well, but it is a Wednesday and whilst down on previous series, its popular and interesting.

EDIT: Awesome archive list! Thanks for putting that together!

Yes, although their coverage has got better since the first couple of days I still feel they need to reduce the studio chat. During the Athletics and Swimming they have missed a lot from the Channel 4 coverage whilst just chatting in the studio. It is available on the multichannel streams studio- chat and ad free though.

You can probably add 200k-400k to the Channel 4 ratings for the multichannel streams. So for example last night peaked at 3.3m on C4 but there were probably more watching on the multichannel streams.

The peak tonight for the David Weir race and then the 100m final should hopefully be 4m + like Sunday was. Scheduled at 9:16pm and 9:24pm.

Ch4 could have done things better but also the Paralympic organisers still have a lot of work to do until the competition is in the same ball park as the Olympics imo.

I had a look at Zeebox last night in the 9pm hour. Dallas was going mad, Mrs Biggs was dead.

Just shows there's a lot of young people half watching TV whilst surfing the net watching Dallas, whilst Mrs Biggs' viewers were maybe older and actually watching the programme!!

Don't know how people can watch a scripted show and be on the internet at the same time and actually follow the show.

It's both more realistic and, certainly at the levels of last night, pretty excellent for C5. Predictions of 4-5m were always unbelievably optimistic - I'd suggest 5 didn't have much greater expectations, otherwise they would have moved it away from that slot, kept it away from WDYTYA and Mrs Biggs at least temporarily, even perhaps put it on tuesday.

Thank you to Trickytree for that one.

While daytime's not been perfect (but certainly competent), the evening with Claire and Abe has been great. They also did a cracking job of having coverage of big events on C4 News last night while More4 took other coverage, and they've signposted big events pretty well. I struggle to imagine how they could have done much better with it.

Nice one on the archive and posings - I'm more of a lurker, but it's appreciated
