Femtrash, I like that one, though surely that would apply even more to ITV2, which is like a televised OK magazine.

They described him this morning as sounding as if he was commentating with his head in a bucket, and then proceeded to play an excerpt from the commentary (and yes, it was poor).

But we digress ..... sorry to all.

Indeed. I agree with BigBmad: both the BBC and ITV would love a new sitcom that could get 4.7m for a first showing, never mind for its second outing in 9 months!

Intriguing. CITV doesn't even get a look in, that says a lot. And they're all BBC originals except one which is a Warner Bros Animation straight to DVD movie.

Also, anyone know why the BBC has tried to fill it's CBBC schedule with repeats of primetime gameshows and Merlin? It is just because it's cheap?

Bit low for the fitba, as it was a good game, but I suppose the paralympics and the Diamond League were rival attractions and there is a cynicism around the national team.

Yeah, I haven't seen any CITV entries in the few weeks I've looked at so far. Disney seems to be the BBC's big rival, with its main channel grabbing the top spot and many other entries sometimes. I know that CITV invests far less in original content than the BBC, although the former's viewing share isn't a million miles behind CBBC (but less than half that of CBeebies). I guess CITV airs mostly cheap but reasonably popular (but not often charting) imports.

As for the repeats of BBC1 Saturday-night programming, I guess they are pretty cheap (probably less costly to repeat on a non-main channel - look at BBC3's repeats of Doctor Who) and I don't think they would repeat well on BBC1 even if there was the space. EDIT: The BBC must look at the viewing figures and choose to repeat programmes that garnered a particularly large number of child viewers. Children are much more forgiving of repeats.

I also have top-ten lists for factual, sport, drama, entertainment and current-affairs programmes for each week (some are missing). These are quite interesting as some overnights which aren't often reported elsewhere are given if they chart in that genre (some episodes of Pointless and The Chase, Newsnight, Daily Politics, This Week, Click, Our World, Andrew Marr, Crimewatch Update etc.) I'll post a selection later when I have time.

What strikes me about CBB this time is consistency - so no real spikes or falls.

It seems that 1.7-2.1 million people will watch it regardless. I think like DW it has a cultish following now, even looking on the BB board here, you get people posting about housemates from 10 years ago that are almost forgotten, in the same way DW fans can wax lyrical about someone like Adric, who will be almost forgotten to the man in the street. And I mean this in a non judgemental fashion as being a Whovian( well until Matt Smith) we can get a lot of stick.

In With The Flynns actively repelling viewers, there. Seriously, it comes to something when you have a series of 3 sitcoms, and the only original (starting on the 9pm junction) gets thrashed by those repeats either side.

On the plus side for the BBC, though they have repeated MBB and Miranda ad infinitum over the course of this year, it seems to have rather helped them. Both are now pulling excellent repeat numbers, and when they do finally return with originals - watch out. I think they might both really break out to genuinely huge weeknight audiences.

Sorry if it's been mentioned already, but how did Daybreak fare over the course of the week? Did the figs continue to rise from 600k, or remain steady?

Did figures go up at 8.30 like they did before? Or even more interestingly, did ratings rise or fall on Friday?

I'd be very interested to see current affairs top 10s - thanks in advance!

I think Mrs Brown's Boys could be this decade's comedy hit as it is a winning formula with a man in drag playing an old Irish woman( think of a modern day Old Mother Reilly) and a dysfunctional family.

Interesting. Looking at CITV's top 10 every week, it's mostly filled with Horrid Henry completely.

I wonder what those figures would be if they included ALL figures.

He'll especially be worrying on Monday morning once he sees the Sunday ratings

Can't be any worse than last week. Since Simon Cowell has changed it around (he's been in the UK editing it) there will be more acts and less of the TOWIE stuff (hopefully). Tomorrow will without a doubt be dented by the Paralympics but you never know, could be helped by the lead-in from Corrie.

X Factor will drop to another low tonight. I predict 8m incl +1. Very nice weather. However they will advertise Cheryl's return and that episode will reach the mid 10m.

Cheryl is returning? that will give the judging line up, some of its old strength.

Simon confirmed via his Twitter. Maybe it's just for the live shows, not sure.

I will be...

I predict a lot of people will be out. Hot weather. BBQ weather. For the older students (uni people) this is either the last or 2nd last weekend before most university students start. They would be enjoying the weather. As would older people over 40.

I predict everything will be down. Even DW may drop around 200k. However XF will be hurt the most. Not only the hot weather but it clashes for 15 mins with DW at the start, right?
