The theme tune is horrible and the whole programme is a patronising, cringy adult version of Blue Peter. I wish BBC1 would have more variety at 7pm weeknights. Why does it have to be on ALL the time?

Ultimately, I don't have a preference for one channel. I think they all have their strengths and weaknesses.

I'd also like to thank DMN for the ratings round ups every day and also to everyone else that provides numbers for this thread. This is the first place I come to to find out the ratings every day.”

It's lazy scheduling, when the BBC could, as they have in the past, game shows in this schedule. Also you're right about the theme, it's even more annoying than This Morning, one, one, one, yeahhhhh!
However, I do find the BBC are overkilling some of their shows like TOS. Eggheads is a bit tedious five nights a week, then there are all these annoying antique shows every night.

Thanks to MattJ for this.

Saturday 1 September Officials

Last week's Doctor Who opener (Asylum of the Daleks) had a consolidated rating of 8.33m (34.4%)

The X Factor had 9.36m (37.1%) [+1: 438k]

So 9.8m for The X Factor in total last week.

And Countryfile/George Gently on BBC1. A lot of competition on BBC1, ITV and C4 tonight - should be fascinating to see the overnights tomorrow. I'm going for 5.1m for the Paralympic Closing Ceremony, 5.7m for Corrie, 6.6m for TXF but I'm not too sure. It's anybody's guess really.

Channel 4 should have separated tonight 7.00pm - 9.00pm, then 9.00pm to finish. Feel like it is going to drag down the total average.

Some people said that about the opening. But in the end the buildup rated better than the last couple of hours of the ceremony itself.

Not the 'spring' style timeshift then.
It'll be interesting if at some point we get a breakdown - I may be right/wrong but I do think the insanely competitive week may have affected things. Likewise next week isn't getting 'better' - bit weaker but tbh drama wise its still full, meanwhile Sunday (which Who seemed to timeshift above normal last week) is even busier.

The show is down 530k on last year's opener overall. Just shy of a 2m timeshift.
Both overnight/timeshift are above Let's Kill Hitler which also went out in Autumn.

How the series does depends on how the timeshift drops. It might stay up; might not (probably won't). Should still be +7m for the 5 episodes.

That's actually decent for TXF - a good consolidated figure. Not the best by TXF's standards but 9m on a Saturday night is still excellent for ITV. But a decline is still evident and it doesn't hide that there are issues with the show - notably the TOWIE-style editing.

Thank you for finding this. So the first three consolidated ratings for TXF are (excluding non-same-day repeats):

Ep 1: 9.1m / 9.8m (exc / inc +1)
Ep 2: 9.6m / 10.1m
Ep 3: 9.4m / 9.8m

Auditions are down a lot on last year, but at least fairly stable. The big question is of course whether the live shows will see a boost, or if they will actually kill the momentum like last year. EDIT: not that there is any momentum this year

Isn't it exactly in line with the previous weeks?

So Doctor Who timeshifted +1.95m (+31%).

I could not tell you what the previous weeks X-Factor official rating is.

I wonder if Murray's finals match at the US Open tonight will impact ratings?...I'm guessing will be on Sky.

It's tomorrow. The final tonight is Williams v Azarenka.

Oh really? Thanks for letting me know...was assuming finals would be on a Sunday and not a Monday. Cheers.

Both finals were pushed back by a day due to bad weather and the threat of a tornado.

Then there's all the irritating repetition and it just makes reading the thread a real slog. It quite frequently gets hostile and rude and there really is no need for it, and it is often the same few members over and over again.

Now we've ended up with a situation where several regulars have completely disappeared (Zoe, rzt and others) and others don't post as much because of the direction the thread has gone in. As Agent F said I'm really grateful to you and certain other members for doing the roundups every day D.M.N as they are one of the few things keeping it afloat at the moment.”

I agree with the above 100%.

Not a Sky exclusive event the US Open final. Also on Eurosport and www.eurosportplayer.co.uk.

Precisely.

People have been "supporting" channels on here for many years. My main concern recently has been the "tone" of quite a number of posts.

Just have two threads, One for the actual ratings and another for discussion

It's not live on Eurosport TV - it's delayed approx 24 hours.

Is it live on Eurosport Player?

Has anyone actually left the thread, though? Apparently, rzt is simply busy, and I expect George will be back when Abbey returns and XF finds its ratings feet on Sunday nights over the next few weeks.

This is precisely why I don't feel comfortable posting a view in here, or even reading as I can just imagine being in the firing line. I wouldn't be surprised if many felt the same. I'm happy this is finally being brought up, I was too scared to say anything.

Ah, I had 'Eurosport' in my DigiGuide template as opposed to 'British Eurosport', hence me thinking they were showing it live.
