That's been a rather clever (albeit somewhat under the radar) bit of scheduling by the BBC it has to be said.

Indeed. It seems like a good bit of scheduling that provides a contrast to what ITV1 will be serving up in the same slot and saves them from trying to run a new drama opposite a big juggernaut. History of the World should also fit in with the general flow of BBC1's Sunday night schedule these days. Presumably it'll be Countryfile at 7, Antiques Roadshow at 8 and History of the World at 9? A solid if unspectacular line-up that does what it needs to and offers an alternative to ITV which will presumably be The Cube (or something similar), X Factor Results and Downton.

Out of interest what is the requirement (if there's one at all) for the BBC airing children's content on BBC1 when the digital switchover is complete? Surely they should be airing something...
