Are we assuming that Jake Humphrey won't be the third presenter again? I can't see why he wouldn't, regardless of where Clare Balding was going. Don't get me wrong, I'd like to see her involved in SPOTY - but then I'd like to see Inverdale, Logan and especially Hazel Irvine involved too.

And though Balding would be a loss to BBC Sport, I don't think you'd really notice it, at least on television, until the next multi-sport event. Horse Racing still made up the vast majority of what she did for them, and with that out of the picture what other BBC coverage is there to miss her from?
I have to agree, I think keeping Jake from the clutches of Sky F1 is a far bigger priority to them and would be a much more visible loss.
Brekkie is living in a dream world if thought they were ever going to drop him from SPOTY.

If Chris Hoy is not nominated then I would think Murray has a chance of winning, but many English people don't like him because of his comments all those years ago, sowithout the full force of Scottissh votes behind him I think it will be an uphill battle, plus in terms of grand slams I would think foor SPOTY inning Wimbedon is a far greater achievement than Flushing Meadows, purely because its on home soil

Anyway on to Australian ratings for last night:

X Factor rebounded from 1.38m last night to a series high of 1.66m, all signs are pointing to a big final number, and whereas the voice lost numbers oonce the battle rounds finished, the X Factor's strength is the live shows. And Big Brother while doing ok is not pulling in huge numbers, and TEN is now getting less than half of what it got when Masterchef was on against the voice, so in theory X Factor can build momentum.

With regards the missing viewers from TEN after 7pm last night saw ABC News' bulletin at 7pm better Nine's bulletin (albeit at 6pm) and in Adelaide was the top rating News bulletin of the night even beating Seven News which is amazing consiidering Perth and Adelaide are Seven strangleholds.

Anger management sunk to 0.48m, while a TBBT repeat beforehand got 0.64m. Big Brother again hovering just above a million with 1.07m. For Ten another shocking night, I Will Survive is making ALW's ITV Superstar look like a smash hit, with just 336,000 viewers, beaten by SBS who had 349,000 for WDYTYA (not sure if this is the new British series or not, seems a tad higher than normal). Neighbours had 311,000, Home and Away 999,000 viewers

Does anyone know why BBC1 are playing a sitcom repeat at 10.35 tonight, then a new religious/science programme, not the other way round? Possibly it's to avoid as far as possible a clash with Newsnight.

Rosh Hashanah programs always seem to go out late every year. But it also clashes with the Storyville doc on the Munich Olympics on BBC2, which is a shame.

Football - 4550 + 1044 (I'm guessing Friday was just poor timing)

Bake Off - 3975

So are there any overnights available for Wolfblood on CBBC yesterday? From what I've seen, it's something which many adults would have also watched.
I hope you didn't spend so much time asking for the ratings for the monday edition that you missed the 2nd ep on tuesday heh.

I've lost track of what's a good footie rating. Is 5.6m acceptable for a competitive England World Cup qualifier now?

Thank you very much for these.

Do you know how they compare with the Adrian/Christine and Dan/Kate days?

Also do you have the figures minus +1?

The latter, I would think. GBBO gets around 300k on BBC HD. (surprised so few who have HD bother to watch it in HD, it improves it immeasurably).

Holby City/River City down to 4.49m (18.8%) last night. Taking another weekly drop in ratings. Bake Off/football causing more damage.
Reminder: Scotland stripped out of officials. This week's Scottish Holby sent to 10:45pm on Wednesday.

Yeh thought that was a bit odd. Someone got their 9:45pm and 7:45pm mixed up I suspect.

I was joking (perhaps you are as well!). that "7.45m" is the audience, not the time (but you knew that, right?)

Oh what I meant was, it says in the Broadcast article:

The live coverage from Wembley stadium peaked with 7.45m (31.71%) viewers at 7.45pm – roughly coinciding with the time Lampard slammed the ball into the back of the net.

At number 33 Channel 5's promo about the death of Whitney Houston, and the infamous, "She looks better in a body bag" line from a sponsor.

I’m surprised with video gaming being bigger than movies and music, none of the broadcasters like BBC, ITV, C4, C5, Sky etc have got computer gaming programme that would make event TV, remember there was shows like Gamesmaster, Bad Influence and Games World, maybe is it because of current economic climate?
You can't make much of a show about games anyway because people would rather just play the games than watch other people play them. The most remarkable thing is that Gamesmaster magazine is still going about fifteen years after the series was axed.

Wembley crowd looks very, very poor indeed - indicator of reduced interest in England team - ties in with poor rating for game last Friday and may suggest lower rating than may have been expected for tonight (and possibly for future games coming up).
The Guardian did point out yesterday that even the expected low attendance is higher than any of the international matches played on Friday, including Germany. I know Germany were only playing the Faroe Islands but England got 70,000 against Andorra. I'm pretty sure England matches have the highest attendance of any nation in Europe. Italy have played friendlies in 15,000-seater stadia. And at this stage in the qualification process it's not massively appealing as a match, especially live on terrestrial TV.

Does anyone know why BBC1 are playing a sitcom repeat at 10.35 tonight, then a new religious/science programme, not the other way round? Possibly it's to avoid as far as possible a clash with Newsnight.
As mentioned, the special programmes for Rosh Hashanah are always shown very late because they're religious programmes first and foremost and therefore of minority interest. This is actually one of the earliest it's ever been, I think. Same reason why Songs of Praise isn't in primetime.
