The Simpsons is looking healthier than you might think when people discuss its future. I wonder how much that changes, if you go to new episodes. not that C4 have shown any in ages.

Terrific numbers for Sons of Anarchy, winning its timeslot easily in the demo. Well deserved too for a superb programme.

he does? TBH the first I heard of him, was when he got the Breakfast job.
that would be scrapping the bottom of the barrel, both have been repeated too much on C4 already, and made by the C4 Breakfast schedule for a while. not sure which one you are referring to. And endless repeats of Simpsons, TBBT and HIMYM isn't? I wasn't referring to a specific show, but I thought they might do something similar to what they did with Sunday Brunch (as in copy an old/axed format with some of it's original presenters). |

That's why they picked him, they don't want 24+ year olds to have heard of him. They want an audience younger than that, the kind of audience that watches T4... (Although you may very well be younger than 24, in which case I apologize).

Do C4 have the secondary rights for The Simpsons for life or is it something they have to renew. It was such a big deal when they took the rights from the BBC at a ridiculous price for something they can't air until around 5 years after original broadcast and a rolling limit of five series when it comes to repeating even older series.

Big return for Sons of Anarchy in the US which allows me to once again state that Channel 5 are wasting an excellent show. Quote:
In US finals The Voice got adjusted up to a 4.0. While it's lower than Monday (and the lowest ever for an auditions episode) it's probably a lot more encouraging to NBC than Monday's episode was seeing as it actually improved the 8pm hour vs last night.
All this makes tonight's clash between The Voice and The X Factor interesting. I think I might be leaning in favour of The Voice at 8PM but its a tough one to call. |

Anyway, The Walking Dead is a powerhouse on US cable but its numbers on C5 are only fair at best. |

Hardly. It does well for 5USA but not well enough to suggest it would rate on C5. Why fix something that isn't broken?

One can only hope. Unfortunately I doubt that's indicative of his status on The Voice. My guess is that its all part of SyCo's mission to mend bridges with Cheryl Cole. Plus he's probably got a new album or something out.

The Walking Dead isn't exclusive to Channel 5 nor is it as good as Sons of Anarchy. Stuff actually happens in SoA for starters.

Well, SOA wasn't exclusive to C5 either until they took up first-run rights when Bravo folded. Thanks to C5 its potential audience increased considerably.
Plus as you mention no one watched it on Bravo because I'm pretty sure no one knew Bravo existed. If memory serves people actually watch FX and The Walking Dead on FX. |

I think Sons of Anarchy would struggle on the main channel, it does well on 5USA but I think maybe a repeat run on Saturdays wouldn't hurt and would expose it to a wider audience.
Shameless seems to got scathing reviews on the forum, I do wish Channel 4 would just let it finish with some dignity intact but unfortunately there is nothing to replace it. |

Midsomer has to compete with both Holby and Great British Bake Off in the 8pm hour, that's not going to be easy for any of them.
I would suspect that plenty will stick with Holby and Bake Off, thus leaving a large amount of viewers looking for something to watch at 9pm. I don't think The Paradise will be too badly effected, although it's far from perfect. |

I Will Survive sinks further
Last nights 7.30pm Australian Ratings
1. Seven: X Factor: 1.5m 2. Nine: Big Brother: 0.95m (Started at 7 finished at 8.30) 3. ABC1: 7.30: 0.81m/QI : 0.72m 4. SBS1: Bears of The Frontier: 0.33m 5. 7Two: Heartbeat: 0.33m 6. Ten: IWS: 0.28m Getting beaten by ABC1 on a Wednesday is one thing, getting beaten by SBS 2 nights in a row is embarrassing, but getting beaten by a god knows how old repeat of Heartbeat, TEN really are in a bad way. Its reliance on Masterchef and even the Biggest Loser is starting to show. I can't actually remember the last time they beat ABC1 since Masterchef finished |

Sons of Anarchy returned huge last night in the US. It pulled 5.4m viewers and a 2.8 in the 18-49 demo (a near 70% skew). The fifth season premiere posted series highs, up 9% in adults 18-49 from last year. The show aired 10pm-11.30pm and FX then repeated it twice in a row (11.30pm-1am and 1am-2.30am) which brought up the total audience to 7.5m (3.8) for the night.
In US finals The Voice got adjusted up to a 4.0. While it's lower than Monday (and the lowest ever for an auditions episode) it's probably a lot more encouraging to NBC than Monday's episode was seeing as it actually improved the 8pm hour vs last night. . The Voice's 4.0 should make NBC happy, even though it is down from season 2 early this year. Let's not forget that episode 2 at that time was still after the whole Superbowl stuff (and when new viewers were still excited). Tonight will see the heated battle between the two singing shows, and whoever wins should be interesting. Putting Guys With Kids after an AGT finale instead of the voice really shows how little confidence NBC has about the sitcom. NBC also did well for their two new sitcoms. Go On did really well with 3.4, almost similar to Up All Night's premiere last year (or was that a preview episode?). The New Normal managed to hold from last night and retain a 74% lead-in from Go On. Some people are saying 2.5 is decent, but when looking at the history of NBC sitcoms ratings the last five years, especially with the retentionista performances, I'd say it did more than decent - it did quite well. Free Agents last year had pathetic retention from Up All Night, from my memory and got canned after four episodes. Also, as much as I love Parks and Recreations, it's not like they coped well when they got The Office lead-out slot. Link (US Daytime) http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/new...-harvey-369843 As for the US daytime front, Ellen leads with 2.9, Live! with Kelly and Michael followed with 2.8. Katie had 2.3 (2.0 in NY and 2.8 in LA), and Jeff Probst had 0.7. All syndicated shows declined yesterday, due to 9/11 coverage preemptions. Quote:

After some said this thread was getting too big for it's own good, for what it's worth, I asked DS if they would consider creating a separate sub-forum to discuss TV ratings with a list of reasons why (a thread for each day, threads for old TV ratings and discussion, scheduling thread, RPG thread etc), their response was just that it would be passed onto the forum administration team for consideration.
The England match did solidly well last night, a relief possibly for ITV after last Friday's poor rating. Trouble on the Estate sounds like Summer filler to me on BBC One, but Holby did admirably against the football. It will be interesting to monitor its ratings over the next few weeks as the Champions League may keep it around the mid 4m's. |

It now looks likely that Keith Urban is joining American Idol, considering it has been announced that he wont be returning to the Voice Australia. The article states that Randy will be back and Nicki Minaj will join Miriah
http://www.tvtonight.com.au/2012/09/...the-voice.html And Ten have now decided to shorten I Will Survive too one epsiode a week, but bizzarely now X Factor is going to live shows on Monday and Tuesdays the episode Ten drop is the Wednesday one and keep the Tuesday one. Clearly not helping themselves |

For multiple threads to work, the existing thread needs to continue as is but a second thread needs to just have reported ratings (but with the posts being repeated in the main "discussion" thread). that way, anyone just looking for ratings won't have to slog through posts like this!
Isn't that sufficient? K |

There just needs to be a UK ratings thread and a waffle thread (to discuss upcoming programme schedules, new presenters/ judges etc.)
The US Ratings thread needs to be under the US Television programmes sub forum. The Aussie ratings are popular here, do they tend to be discussed around midnight when ratings are released? We need a vote here.....bin the waffle...keep the waffle??? |
