I have a gut feeling the Bletchley Circle is going to be ITVs next big drama hit. I didn't see it myself but saw the promo and read up on it and it seems to me that it ticks all the right boxes for a typical ITV audience. I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that I expect it would have won its slot with around 6m.
I'm glad that The One Show had a poor figure yesterday. It has to be the worst BBC1 programme ever, but my mum watches it every day for some reason. It was alright when Adrian and Christine were presenting, but really it's just a patronising, cringe inducing adult version of Blue Peter.

They certainly squeezed them in - three breaks between 9pm and 9.15pm - but were back in plenty of time for Weir's race and aired the following half hour or so uninteruptted, so a price worth paying.
P.S. Tube Talk confirming today C4 won't be showing True Blood season 4 & 5 with Sky Atlantic now having secondary rights, and apparently already having shown season 4. That completely passed me by, but anyone know how it rated as surely anyone with Sky Atlantic would likely have FX.

You can watch it on the multichannel streams with commentary but without the studio chat and adverts. If you don't have pay tv Freeview channel 304 shows one of the streams. Was watching online so didn't check what 304 was showing tonight but presumably Athletics. (sorry to keep going on about the streams but they are a godsend for skipping the adverts when you're watching hours of coverage. The people only watching it on CH4 must be turning into Sainsbury's zombies).
Tonight I reckon a combined peak of 4.5m. We may only get the lower C4 figure reported though.

I'm really not sure I 'get' Game of Thrones. I watch it and keep expecting to be blown away and yet I never am although the fifth season of Mad Men wasn't exactly stellar stuff either. At least not relative to its previous seasons. Personally I think the best new/original show Atlantic has is Treme which is a little depressing because Treme whilst good isn't world beatingly brilliant either. They've got some really great archive stuff though and if I didn't already own all of it on DVD that would be a selling point...
That Atlantic top 10 is an incredibly depressing list though on so many levels and I do wonder what it looks like when you strip out multiple episodes of the same show. Presumably everything outside of that top 10 is under a million...?
It doesn't matter what Sky do, Sky Atlantic remains a stupid and mental idea that was made up on the spot.
Its a flop of a channel. One show has done well, and GoT would have done better on Sky One anyway (all those shows would have) or by not being paid for at all.
HBO must be having a good laugh at Sky for that deal they signed. Couldn't have been cheap; Sky just look amateurish.

Aren't all top tens of pay multichannels depressing? Pointless having a top ten that only shows figures for single showings and not all the repeats amalgamated.
Also, lots of Sky stuff is watched on Anytime and Anytime+, which BARB link to the previous linear showing at time of viewing so isn't credited to the debut transmission of the episode.
And of course that's only counted if it's within seven days of transmission.

It was a gimmick, a promo tool and a way to screw over it's competitors by making sure some of the best shows on TV weren't available for the next 5 years. You really think they paid £50m for Mad Men, because they thought they could regain it? It was to piss off the BBC and gain a bit of promo... It worked.
