The title of this is awful, "The Secret Dude Society".

Their live show might not help them make a sitcom, but I'm not surprised this was commissioned. Their Edinburgh show, currently touring, this year- Pappy's Last Show Ever- was amazing. One of the best performed hours of live comedy I've ever seen (and I've seen hundreds) and maybe better than the Adam Riches show that won the Edinburgh comedy award in 2011.

As I say, God knows if they can make a sitcom work, but I'm not surprised it's happening.

By my calculations over 22m watched the 9pm programmes last night. I give up counting, but I know I've got over 200 channels to choose from with my Sky package. Even with Freeview people would have at least a couple of dozen channels to choose from. Or alternatively a couple of million people could be catching up with something recorded earlier in the week. There's an awful lot of timeshift viewing these days.

ITV had Bletchley which wasn't as good as it should have been and BBC1 had two largely-unpublicised comedy repeats. BBC2 did well, though.

More dire ratings! I imagine EastEnders and Emmerdale were below 6 million? Confusing stuff...

TXF dying, BGT dying, Em dying, Coro dying!

I just think people are bored with them - none of the 'big 3' currently have any storylines which offer viewers any excitement!

I do think being on so often means they burn through storylines much quicker, but that's an unusually for them compared to the rest of the week.

Wasn't Corrie close to 9 million on Monday?

With the exception of a few shows, I personally believe people are desperate for new things to watch. They want fresh looks and fresh ideas. The same old same as schedules are beginning to get tired and dull.

I believe that is exactly why Call The Midwife was a huge success. After years of dull schedule repetition (DOI, LRTC), finally, for the first time in several years along came something different to watch on Sundays. And watch it we did!

Will CTM maintain the momentum for series 2? Possibly but schedulers from all the main channels need to look at what and when things are on and maybe freshen up their offerings.

It is so boring having soaps on all the time. Emmerdale has just seen five of its most liked characters transform into hideous caricatures of their former selves and the storyline is nasty, unbelievable and bizzare. EastEnders is going through a transgressional period but needs a bomb up its backside to get it going again, and Corrie, well, just too much of a once good thing.

Reduce the episodes down a week, show new fresh ideas and put a bit of excitement into TV again. Sky seem to have grasped the concept of variety with their new commissions, so why can't everyone else?

That's a terrible rating for Corrie, and that includes +1. Eastenders did quite poorly too but it looks good when compared with Corrie. The weather was mostly overcast and on/off rain yesterday so I don't know what's going on, not to mention it is dark about 7:15 now.

EastEnders probably level with Corrie then once the latter is tape checked, but still really bad ratings for the soaps. And you can't blame the weather....

Eeeekety eek! Good Cop a flop, new Waterloo Road uninspiring, Eastenders below par - is the BBC dying?! What did you expect from ITV when up against the Olympics, Euros, Paralympics.

You never did close the door when you "left" last week did you?

The shares are low too suggesting the audience was there, just not on BBC1 or ITV. Had both got shares of 36-40% but those ratings you may just put it down to a low audience, was there any sport or anything on last night?

Waterloo Road is now possibly the biggest pile of shite on TV. Good Cop could have been a hit, but launching a very grim drama during the week when the nation was on a high and generally cheery was possibly its downfall. It would be like having Reservoir Dogs as BBC1's Christmas night movie.

Would make a change from The Thomas Crown Affair or Speed.

The Thomas Crown Affair was on in 2003. Speed was on in 2005 and 2007. In 2004 the movie was Out of Sight. In 2006 it was Entrapment. In 2008 it was Bend it Like Beckham. In 2009 it was, yep you guessed it, Speed! And in 2010 it was Starsky and Hutch. There was no late film in 2011 due to the repeats of Have I Got News For You and Graham Norton! (There was a film post 1am, but I'm not counting that!)

So, yeah, I'll give you the point about Speed, but it wouldn't be that bad to see The Thomas Crown Affair again!

I don't think they'll schedule two dramas starring Sarah Lancashire in the same week.

They've brought Paradise forward to usurp ITV's Mr Selfridge, so maybe they've swapped them and it will be next year now?

6.3m for Coronation Street including +1 seems unusual. Is that right?

Correct.

Excluding +1 it will be about 6.0m (full slot), meaning about 6.3m (tape-checked).
