Does anyone else like Leanne Battersby
I was just wondering what your opinions were on Leanne Battersby. I actually think she is a complex character,
I actually think she wanted to help Maria out becuase the way she was telling Tyrone it was as if she knew he would lend her the money. I mean she obviousley knows how much Ty likes Maria and I think she wanted to help her out but because of their rivalry couldn't lend her the money herself so got Tyrone to do it. And when Frankie told Candice she looked lovely when they were dressed up to go to the footie do and then she didn't say anything about Leanne, I actually felt sorry for Leanne Does anyone else agree that she's quite a loveable character really |

I really like Leanne both her bitchy side and her seemingly nice side.
I was very happy when Jane Danson came back and in true Corrie style Leanne has had a rather understated return. I don't necessarily think that she is a nice character but I do like her. |

Yeah I know she's not really nice
Yeah I know she's not really nice as such but didn't you think that when she was telling Tyrone about Maria that she was kind of edging to get him to help her

I think that scene between Tyrone and Leanne was (possibly deliberately) ambiguous. I wondered if Leanne was telling him so that he would help Maria, or just trying to make Maria look even dumber than usual
The way Jane D played it, you couldn't tell.Last night was the first time I actually liked Leanne. Her previous scenes have involved her being a loudmouthed panto Cilla type, but last night she achieved a bit of complexity. She has potential, if she continues that way. |

I don't like the character, but I think she is well (in soap terms, at least) acted. I really don't like the way they costume and make up Leanne though - I can't remember her looking so tarty, ugly and hard-faced when she was in the programme the first time around!

I like Leanne's character, but I don't think that she was trying to help Maria out at all the other night. I think she was jus sticking the knife in further, she wanted to turn Maria's one true friend completely against her once and for all. Remember too, it's more than just petty rivalry between Maria and Leanne.. the Nick issue just added to the dislike Leanne had for the person who stabbed her sister in the back.

![]() Yes the girl that plays Stacey in EE should take note. Given time she has the potential to become a character like Leanne maybe. |

She's got a well wonky eye which I never noticed during her first Corrie stint

I do like her, but was she that bitchy when she left? Toward the end of her first Corrie stint I remembered Leanne kind of maturing and toned down a bit, but maybe thats just me.

no, can't stand her. She gives Tracey a run for her money in the bitchy stakes, but where Tracey alternates it with being a normal human being, Leanne is in continual nasty snarling bitchy mode. She never used to be like this, a thoroughly unlikeable charcter.

i remember that too, however there was that much that happened to the character the 1st time jane was in the show (teen marrage, divorce, abortion, drug problems, being threatened by gangster jez quigly etc) that her personality sort of changed several times during the show. I do remember when the character 1st came into the show she was very mouthy, with spice girl style hair etc. |

Leanne hasn't done enough since coming back IMO. Her part in the Dev/Maya storyline was boring, but I liked it when she returned at first and had the cat-fight with Maria and Nick in the Rovers. The timing of the return was bad - she came back in the same episode as Billy was buried. The dust hadn't properly settled from that storyline so that Leanne could be focused on properly. All she does now though is break up and get back together with Jamie. She's a good character and deserves more. I'm hoping they'll give her better storylines in 2005, especially involving Maria and Frankie, her two biggest enemies! She and Jamie should break up - they weigh each other down a bit IMO.

![]() I'm sure that with time Leanne will be given much bigger storylines, especially with the departure of Suranne. |

I like Leanne as a character. As a person she'd drive me insane, but she's a great character - very outspoken and self-centred!

I can't decide. I liked her first time around, didn't really like her when she returned but I now find myself liking her again.
I think she was sticking the knife in with Tyrone. She hates Maria, especially after what she did with Toyah's boyfriend and then being with Nick. She is a great character though and like Ben said, I think when Suranne leaves Leanne will have more storylines. |
