Amazon to announce new kindle products at this live event today from LA.

Live blog at verge, not sure if there is a live stream available.

Thanks. I'm interested in the new kindle. Maybe I can now justify an upgrade on my K3.

Paper white does look rather nice. E-ink is still the best way to read a book IMO! I'm not bothered about the Fire update, they lost me to Nexus. I waited for a UK release way too long.

Kindle Fire HD looks as if it's going to be very expensive. Will we get it in the UK. It doesn't seem to do the washing up or make the tea.........

Since the Amazon Android Appstore launched this week it's pretty likely we'll get the Kindle Fires here too.

But i'm with Voynich here; Nexus 7 for tablet, Kindle Paperwhite for books.

TWiT are doing their usual live discussion/analysis of the various live blogging of the events.

I'm not interested in the fire anymore. Took too long to come over here and now i've gone for another tablet.

I hope we get the paperwhite over here.

Kindle Fire didn't launch here solely because we don't have the Amazon Prime ecosystem like in America with VoD, lending library and obviously the app store which has just launched.

Amazon will probably rename LOVEFiLM and make it a fully integrated Amazon brand.

Great conference by Amazon. This will sell a ton in the States, who knows if we'll get it here.

Sadly no phone from Amazon, I really like their bare bones Android variant.

Plus that data plan is unbelievable, just shows what you can do without networks.

EDIT: Also depends if Apple do announce the iPad Mini at $299 the competition is really great at the moment

iPad 2/3 and Mini
Nexus 7 - Other Android Tablets
Amazon's Kindle Fire
Windows RT Tablets/Hybrids

Why does it not look like it?

Surely that is why they have recently launched their Android Appstore?

Looks like we're stuck with the Kindle Touch if the banner on the Kindle Fire product page is anything to go by.

Oh I didn't see that bit. I quickly stopped reading after I saw US exclusive. Ah well I guess my kindle keyboard will have to keep until then.

Have pre-ordered the 16gb kindle fire HD as it says we will be getting access to the media content (TV shows ,movies). Also lovefilm compatibility.

Arrgghhh... just when I decided to get a Google Nexus. Back to the drawing board.

The 7" tablet market is really hotting up now after everyone was writing it off not so long ago. All we need to see now is the iPad Mini.

I read the access to media content and LoveFilm compability as being one and the same. Especially on Jeff Bezos' letter on the Amazon homepage:
Both Kindle Fire and Kindle Fire HD bring you Amazon's massive selection of digital content. With our Amazon Appstore, you'll find all your favourite apps and games such as Angry Birds Space, Skyscanner - All Flights! and Jamie's 20 Minute Meals. The Amazon MP3 Store has over 20 million songs, from bestselling international and British artists. Instantly stream thousands of popular films and TV shows, including Gnomeo & Juliet, Unknown, Desperate Housewives and 24 with a LOVEFiLM Instant subscription. Haven't experienced LOVEFiLM yet? We'll give you a one-month free trial to experience the service for yourself. And as always, you can choose from the over one million books from our Kindle Store.
It doesn't read to me like we will be getting TV shows and movies from Amazon.co.uk. The content seems to be staying with LoveFilm as a separate subscription service. Which probably means we won't be getting digital content included with Amazon Prime membership like in the US, which is a shame.
