You can always import it? If amazon.com don't allow UK orders then I'm sure someone will be selling them on ebay.

Possibly, but whether you could link it to your Amazon uk account would be the question, as I dont think you could do that with imported fires.

So probably be more of a paperweight

Well that's a deal braker for me. I've already got an Android Tablet, so am only interested in the fire if it allows access to digital content. Will have to wait and see if it's clarified before the 25th of October.

You probably can with the Paperwhite, you could do it with the US Kindle Touch and a UK amazon account.

Wont it then be connected to the US Kindle Store?

I don't think my UK kindle gives me the choice of store to connect to.

kindle fire is android, but a bastardised version made by amazon. Out of the box, I believe it won't connect to the Play Store, but will still run Android apps, you just have to get them from Amazon (or be technical)

Kindle (not fire) is not android at all.

I can't vouch for the accuracy of the article, but TechRadar say we won't be getting Prime benefits or Amazon Instant Video.

“U.K. Fire's won't have any Amazon Prime membership benefits. Amazon Instant Video, for example, will be swapped for a one month trial subscription with LoveFilm.”

It should be connected to the UK store. But IIRC you have to do ordering online rather than through the Kindle itself. I imported the Touch and didn't have a problem buying books.

I will be ordering the PaperWhite via eBay. It seems as usual Amazon don't give a hoot about the UK. There are already people selling it on eBay.
