My daughter has a bluetooth handsfree kit for her HTC Wildfire S but it just won't stay in her ear and as she tries to make it more secure she cuts off her caller. It was the only kit we could find that said it was compatible with this phone and the reviewers did mention this problem, but as we found nothing else, we bought it. I wondered if anyone else had used one of these and had the same problem, also does anyone know of another compatible handsfree kit. I've looked on the internet but can't find anything.

Bluetooth is standardised so in theory any hands free kit should work.

So that's some good news for you

But there are different versions of the standard! Not knowing any better at the time, a couple of phones ago I changed my trusty Nokia to a LG Viewty Smile (my first smart phone!) which refused to work with my in-car system. I went back to the Vodafone shop who unboxed a Samsung Monte and brought it out to my car in the car park so we could set it up and check it would work, which it did, just fine. (Now, that's customer service!). Since then I have had an HTC Wildfire and now a Galaxy S2 - both fine with my car.

That shouldn't happen anymore. It's only really the iPhone that is quirky. From time to time you might get little bumps with car kits like the caller number but not the name might show up. I'm not going to say 100% every hands free works with every phone but should be close.

With my system (Qashqai), numbers, names and voice tags (for calling out) are stored in the car, so links between names and numbers are independent of the phone.

sure. and they are pretty reliable these days. there are still a couple of ways of doing it. importing the contacts, reading them live and so on.

maybe sms.
