ED - Stuart Blackburn is on another planet
Have a read -
http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/soaps/s1...-episodes.html He's 'aiming' to win NEW emmerdale fans?! If I was him I'd be more worried about the existing fans switching off. I think Digital Spy aren't helping either, they clearly aren't asking the right questions in interviews with him. He's either oblivious to all the complaints on here or he just doesn't care... Win new fans? Classic... |

Really do fear for Emmerdale with him being in charge of the Live EP... 'Iceberg Ahead' spings to mind

Emmerdale is becoming more and more unwatchable with each episode

100% agree. He must be on another planet.
I reckon Blackburn and his team have got so wrapped up in the big anniversary week, that they've let the standard drop big time for the before and probably the after bit too. |

He isn't in charge of what happens then. The director is.
They'll be well rehearsed.

I haven't been on here very long, but have noticed that the Emmerdale producer seems to be getting more stick than any of the other producer's, despite being one of the best at the moment, very strange.

This is nothing new - when Corrie celebrated / marked its 50th, the quality of the stories was just the same - 90% utter dreck, sagas and incidental characters that simply beggared belief. It was so up itself that it failed to even realise that the live episode with the tram crash was the biggest pile of overproduced, over-egged, overcooked, over-everything doggy doos imaginable.

I actually prefered that era before Gavin Blyth - you know, the era where every character was focused on the police lol - never thought I would prefer that to anything!!!

I'd like to see Emmerdale go down Eastenders route of bringing older characters back, people are losing interest

I agree with you OP, He should be looking at why hes losing viewers and trying to keep the ones he has, rather than try and present a below-par product "Hoping" to win new viewers.
I can't remember Emmerdale being in a worse state, the only story I'm interested in (Sarahs Illness) has been shoved aside for a "Affair" storyline in Cameron/Chas. I like Nikhill and Gennie I think they are such a cute couple but other than that... don't like much else, don't like what Stuart Blackburn is doing to the show, hes killing it bit by bit, forcing "Maurel" down our throats, Decimating characters to facilitate such a pathetic romance story, Ashley/Paddy/Rhona for example. The Spencers, I don't like them much either, they don't "Fit" in Emmerdale, A chavvy lot like them, wouldn't move to a beautiful village like Emmerdale. Too many affairs, Cameron/Chas - Jai/Rachel - Maron/Laurel, boring, couples actually staying together would be more refreshing lol. Creepy Robbie, Don't like him. Too many negatives for me at the moment, I still watch because I'm a loyal fan of the show but It needs to improve and FAST imo. |

Emmerdale is a shadow of its former self, and the producer hasn't noticed. I know a lot of people outside DS that used to love it but have grown tired of it constantly focussing on affairs and love triangles. I agree with an above post that a groundbreaking storyline like Sarah's illness and the saviour sibling has been shafted in preference of an affair.
That said, I do think the Live Ep will be unmissable, but every other episode before and probably after will be unwatchable. |

Thank god I'm not the only one who think's all of this. I just couldnt believe it when I read Stuart Blackburn thinks he going to win new fans, his era has been rubbish...
Digital Spy can you please ask him about how SB intends to fix all the problems raised in this thread? Because from the link above he clearly thinks he's doing an amazing job, when he REALLY ISNT!! |

Stuart Blackburn must have some dirt on his ITV Bosses. Only way I can think why he's still in the job...
