Taylor Swift - 'Ronan'

Normally I wouldn't post a thread about Taylor Swift as I know what it usually end up like here on DS, This song though struck a particular chord.

Read the story:-

http://theronanthompsonfoundation.com/about/ronan

Listen to the song:-

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=63R3-e3E3zY

Absolutely stunning, sad, poignant and beautiful. Who says Taylor can only write about love and relationships?

All proceeds go to cancer charities and it is currently sitting at number one on US iTunes

This is incredible.
Hopefully we can put the Taylor hate behind us just for this one song?

This era has made really warm to Taylor. She is growing as a songwriter. What a sad yet beautiful song.

I'm not much of a Taylor fan but that song made me cry She's improving as a songwriter.

That song is so incredibly beautiful. That praise from the critics for her songwriting is so on spot.

Here is Taylor singing it live, very moving as well.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature...&v=1ITrd7fM6aY

Some here saying she is improving as a songwriter she was writing songs as good as this on fearless and speak now. Its got the same vibe as last kiss and the best day, just pure class but its what we come to expect from Taylor.

Definitely better than most of the stuff I've heard from her (although I havent listened to her albums in fairness.)

Certainly this is the kind of thing she should be doing - rather than crap like "We Are never Ever Getting Back Together."

I'm not the biggest fan of Taylor, but I've heard most of her songs. This isn't the first time she's written like this. Dear John, Last Kiss, Never Grow Up and Haunted all from her last album were all quite mature.

I think Ronan is very beautifully written and sung.
I'm also not sure why people are giving her stick about her single "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together". Yes, it isn't the most mature song, but it's fun and Taylor Swift knows a lot of younger girls like her music, she has to keep both her older and younger fans happy. I'm sure there'll be more mature songs on the album too.

Problem is the trap she could be falling in, many people said the same when avril lavigne brought out girlfriend, many said it was a one off just a bit of fun for a radio single, but the album she released wa a disaster as it continued somewhat in the same style. An album many say ruined her career.
Not saying taylors new album is gonna be like this but like many of her fans I fear she could be making a mistake firstly co-writing with various people and secondly changing her production team.
Sometimes an artist can loose track and control by allowing these random people into her music.
Also taylor is a country artist and is clearly trying to break into the chart pop world, apart from making money I dont see why she would do this. Its the fact she was a bit to one side of the normal chart pop in the charts that me and I guess many millions of others like her so much.
I am looking forward to her new album but maybe not as excitied as I was some months back.

And your right about never grow up, this song is very simular to NGU and best day, almost dreamy style with beautiful meaningful lyrics.

.
Taylor's albums have all sold over 4 million in the US alone, and practically every single she's released (and other promo tracks, soundtrack songs) have all went at least Gold. She also has decent success everywhere besides the UK which isn't that good for album sales, so I don't see how she's trying to break into the charts when she dominates the US with every release.

Taylor is not really that big outside the US, not to the exent of some of the other big pop stars.

I dont think there's anything wrong with co-writing. But I'd rather see her writing with proper country artists if she's going to do that. WANEGB just sounded like something Katy Perry could have released.
