CBBC: Past,Present, Future
So CBBC has been running for about 25 years and this is the place where we can remincise about the glorious past, have a moan and groan about its present state and discuss what the future holds for the children's channel!

and block, not just channel - the channel is only 7 years old.
It's future is secure as long as its only Freeview rival is CITV. Especially with shows like Sarah Jane Adventures in the schedule. But I can see the BBC1 and 2 blocks disappearing after the digital switchover is complete, as all viewers will have access to the CBBC Channel. |

I have a few memories of Pre-2002 CBBC, when they had great shows all the time, some wouldn't look out of place on CBeebies these days. Five picked up the rights for the original Fireman Sam, which I loved on BBC. There was also;
Oakie Doke Playdays Brum Noddy Pingu and others, I haven't watched it much in recent years, but if it's still going, then it must be suitable for a modern audience. I know I'm not that old, but I'm not THEIR modern audience anymore, if it works for kids of 2009, it's OK for me. What might have worked for kids of 1999 (I was born in 93) isn't necessarily going to work today, so maybe that's why we don't see these old shows very often. |

I was born in 1987 i mostly watched CITV shows like Knightmare, How 2, Bad Influence then I got bored of it around about 1998 and watched CBBC. From around 1998 till maybe 2002 I thought the CBBC shows were great especially The Wild Family is that right? had a little speccy kid who loved animals, some girl called Georgina who was always in leather (had a crush on her) and a few other people. I also enjoyed Mr Wymi, Chucklevison, S Club shows (had a crush on Racheal Stevens) they were the main shows... Ooooh Kenan and Kel as well
since around 2002 ( i was 15 that year) i lost interest as the shows got boring and more sillier and too dumbed down.Some great memories none the less |

It's The Wild Thornberries, not The Wild Family, and it was also shown on Nickelodeon (in fact, it's officially a Nicktoon).

aah Get Your Own Back where the kids got a chance to be gunged as well as the adults. I also remember Insides out in 2000 and the demon headmaster.
Kenan and Kel I LOVE ORANGE SODA lol. I wish this was repeated either on CBBC or Virgin1. Its missing a good Saturday morning TV show i remember Live and Kicking, TSS, D&D. Much better than that TMI crap these days. |

There was a show on CBBC (a live action series, not an animation) with a weird family. A boy who loved creatures, i think there was another boy and a girl. Remember very little about it, but know what the other poster is thinking of. |

I used to enjoy the dramas they did, always thought they were well done. Some of the programmes I remember liking are:
Jeopardy - I loved this. Ghost Hunter The Demon Headmaster Aquila Round the Twist (Does this count?) I also remember liking that Australian one about the girl who lives in the sea or something! That was an odd one. Belfry Witches Hubub - Something about a man on a bike? Maid Marian was great too, great theme tune. Oh! I also used to love the cartoon about all the animals on a floating island, Noah's Island. Quote:

Going Live
Live & Kicking and the other one set in a caravan in a desert and they used the shower to teleport to some place. I think John Barrowman used to present it. Hanger 17. Grange Hill (When it was at its peak during the 80's early 90's with the Pickard and Buckfield Twins for example) But then everything became too CGI cartoons and less drama with cbbc.Too much of the limelight went onto the presenters and less on the programming in my opinion. |
