as you all know there is a ds soap project where we are planning/developing to make on here a online soap opera can you please comment on our ideas for characters in this thread:These are character or a families description;in brief:

Daniel and Marilyn Moore: A middle aged couple with sensible heads. They are married and whenever they dispute they always make up. Plan to have a child

Jules: Notorious villain with powerful friends. Will use extreme methods to get his own way and is ruthless and rich.

The Ludgefelt family: A loud, lower class family who are frowned upon. Despite their huge clashes, some petty crimes and fallouts with locals, their family bond runs deep and if one of the family are in trouble, you'll see the rest jumping in.

Pete: A philandering, womanising teen who likes to play the field and ends up breaking hearts. With a double sided personality, his behaviour is often sudden and unpredictable.

Samantha: A mid 30s woman who has always been unlucky in love but ends up falling into love traps again and again. Although she often gets hurt, she ends up on her feet again.

Gavin: A hot headed, often drunk 38 year old man. After the break up of a long amrriage he went off the rails and is unpopular due to his nasty personality.

Ross
: A homeless man who longs to be higher than he is and regrets his mistakes in life. Can generally be found hanging around the streets.

The Feniarak family: An asian family of immigrants desperate to settle in and put a turbulent past behind them.

The Roberts family: Two young adults who own a pub with a daughter Lily whom they don't pay much attention, even though she is gifted. But will her parents' neglect drive her to desperate measures?

Claire: A school teacher with an open mind and a listening ear. Because of her friendly nature, she ends up taking on pupils' problems, leaving her with little time to worry about herself.

Starla: An overweight and self concious yet bubbly character, who always frets about letting others down. Friendly but timid and therefore vulnerable.

The Currah family: Gordon: Head of the family who is quiet yet dependable but has a dark secret.
Sandra: Chatty and friendly wife of Gordon.
Elaize: Rebellious and bitchy teenage daughter.
Rory: A sensible, hard working young adult, Gordon and Sandra's son.
Lydia: Rory's fiance who has a roving eye.

Steph and Paul: Dynamic young married couple who can be in love one minute and at eachothers throats the next. An unpredictable partnership.

Betty and Collette: Two old busybody sisters who like to be in the know. Their gossip can lead to exaggerated lies and they are often the source of community tension as a result.

The Windsor family: Powerful, wealthy and high class family who live in a mansion.

Margaret: Old, venemous matriach of the family. Goes to any lengths to hold on to the family name and her behaviour is snobby. Has been seen to go to extreme lengths to protect her family name.

Mary: Margaret's widower daughter. Her husband died in suspicious circumstances. Mary exerts her mother's snobbish attitude--until she catches the eye of a 'lower class' man...

Roger: Mary's son from her first marriage. Resents his family's status and just wants a normal life, to Margaret's constant irritation.

Annabelle: Mary's baby daughter from a mysterious one night stand. Margaret resents the daughter.

These are just selections I made from a whole archive of charcters (and brooksider seems to have missed one or two out) There are numerous normal characters I've meade but I didn't feel the need to speak about them as they're easy enough to make. I didn't want to put a name then say this is a normal character as I don't really know how a normal character is defined that way

I think you should edit that post, Brooksider as it makes little sense when reading it. I'm really not sure what you mean.

I don’t like the sound of the Asian Family. The surname is pants (Ferreira anyone). Also the idea of them being immigrants isn't really realistic in this decade -maybe 30 years ago but not now.

What your describing is a family more likely to be from Eastern Europe.

I think 20 - 25 characters would be more than enough, maybe with guest characters appearing for a week or two of episodes (like Wanda from Corrie).

I think there should be a rich family, who have been forced to move from the rich part of town to the poorer part, and clash in early episodes with their neighbours rather a lot. Maybe the Windsors?

After around a month they end up getting on after a fire or something, which brings out some community spirit. There is still a rivalry between one of the female Windsors and another female character though.

I also think that a large backstory should be made for each character, so that they can have secret links with other characters. And there should be a small cliffhanger every Friday.

Any names yet?

Something quite similar happened with the Windsors a while back. Mary's son, Roger, unhappy with being picked on for his poshness ran away from home and Mary became hlepless and beside herself. Cue locals helping her find him. She later had a romance with a 'lower class' man, which Margaret was infuriated by. She went to extreme methods to break them apart, leading to a tragedy.

The Sarge has actually given me a good idea. How about a character from Eastern Europe, or maybe even two. A brother and sister.

Paulo (the brother) arrives first. His sister has disappeared after travelling to a city to find a job. He has managed to come to the UK after being transferred here. We see his sister being beaten and attacked, and then after around a month she escapes and manages to find her brother. They struggle with immigration, freedom and racism. Maybe her pimp could make a comeback as well?

Plenty of potential stories.
