I used to use Freecorder to download videos, mainly YouTube. It auto-saved everything, you just had to click to save or play, and remember to delete the autosaves periodically before they overburdened the hard drive. For some reason it stopped working a while back, and after redownloading it, it no longer worked anything like before.

Is there any good video download software available out there that saves and then plays via whatever video software you have installed?

freemake video downloader works well but the installer has become a bit of a pain lately and you have to use task manager to stop it installing crap at the end of the main install

Edit: Just tried a Youtube clip and downloaded in MP4 ..... WMP won't play that but I have VLC player installed which automatically plays most file types.

Any video converter. Post the YouTube link in the software and click download. Remember to set the download quality to the highest possible within the software.

Replay Media Catcher will download any video you can watch, faster than it plays, and convert it to anything, even rip off the sound.

I'm afraid the free trial version is pretty crap, but you could try it. Pay for it and it works a treat. It will easily convert anything to anything, not just things it gets itself. All you do is drag a file to it and drop it and it does it.

Any recommendation? I can't find a single downloader my anti-virus doesn't throw a fit over.

If you use Firefox Video Downloadhelper works well, just disable cookies in Preferences>General>Behavior if you don't want it to share all your visited pages with its website.

Videodownload Helper extension if you have FF otherwise FastestTube for everything else.

If you do have FF you can also open the web developer console and look for the server address that begins http://o-o--- and download it yourself.

A great free prog that does all types of downloading ie vids from you tube or will take just the song and turn it into an mp3 track. Is dvd soft here Just download the free studio for all the progs you will ever need.
