Jurassic Park Trilogy
Just thought it was worth mentioning that Tesco are selling the whole trilogy for £8.00. I bought my set the other day - a bargain

..Well that did anger a lot of us Dinosaur enthusiasts as Spinosaurus was considered by most paleontologists to be an opportunistic predator that despite its size would not fair well in a battle with other apex-predators.

It's a non-factor. The InGen dinosaurs are reconstructed hybrids. So deviations from scientific accuracy are justifiable.

Just like the raptors, Spielberg himself said they were mutated versions of the proper ones. The writers and director probably took the same direction with the Spinosaurus.

I loved JP1, really liked JP3, but for some reason always hated the second film. Genuine hatred as well, not just dislike.

i never liked the second - they shouldn't have added on the bit with the t-rex getting loose in san diego. think they did it to steal some of godzilla's thunder..?
haha that bit with the chewed off hand on the ship - as though the t-rex had got out, killed everyone then gone back in his pen and locked the door.. the third one is very good i think, a straight-forward chase with some excellent set pieces, but it could have done with being a bit longer and not ending so abruptly. |

also, this has always bugged me abou jurassic park.
when the jeep with the kids in is attacked, on the right hand side is the t-rex enclosure. the car doesn't move, it is just turned over, but 10 minutes later there is no enclosure, there is a huge drop! |

That's my take on it anyway, I haven't seen the film for a few years - even though I have the blu ray set, it's still unopened! |

There are elements of TLW which works such as the T-rex/breaking glass attack. But that whole San Diego ending is awful and just screams of trying desperately to put a dinosaur in civilian surroundings. If i watch TLW i turn it off once they escape the island. JP3 is, like you say, one big chase movie with some great moments. Some people see it as the cheaper/poorer relation of the first two because of its smaller scale. But imo the comparison with TLW shows that bigger isn't always better. The ending is a little quick but that's small price to pay for an exhilerating 80 minutes previous to that. |

Jurassic Park - one of my favourite films. First film I ever saw at the cinema, scared me to death seeing the T-rex for the first time, still get a tingle whenever I see that scene. Full of 'mistakes' (search Jurassic Park goofs on Google) but that doesn't detract from the awesomeness of the film.
The Lost World - Very good sequel, way gorier than the first film (with the amount of blood I saw I was very surprised it was classed as PG and not a 12), but starts to lose steam a little once the T-rex is brought to the mainland. It's believable, just, but it just seems so out of place. Jurassic Park 3 - Seems to get a lot of hate, but I think I prefer this to TLW. No Jeff Goldblum or Richard Attenborough, which is a shame, but we do get Sam Neill and Laura Dern back, a strong supporting cast with Tea Leoni and William H Macy, and a decent storyline. No silly subplot about bringing dinos back to the mainland either, which is good. All in all, three very good films. I've also heard that the fourth film is in development, though I think it's just at the writing stage at the moment. |

I love all three... they're just monster movies harking back to the fifties, people analyse them way too much. Must get the blu-ray's soon.

Totally agree with you Mr Marple ... JP2 didn't work for me at all. I enjoyed JP3 much more than I thought I would - it was the human factor for me though ... no-one was who they were pretending to be but they were nice people and you really didn't want any of them to get eaten. Unlike JP2 when I wished the whole cast would have been eaten in the first 15 minutes .... especially Jeff Goldblum (his character was SO annoying).
