Looks that way. It seemed a bit silly not to accept, he could always find a get out later if necessary. And if the wife were so crucial to the business and decision making why wasn't she there? He claimed she was at home not at work or looking after kids etc so seems strange she hadn't come with him, just for a day out if nothing else. Sounded like a lame excuse to turn down the offer ...

We haven't laughed so much for years at this chap. In he came all bluster about being ex-forces and roughy toughy, then when it came to the crunch he had got to talk to the wife. A complete twerp who made himself and his business look utterly ridiculous. I said to Mr Toggler if he came home and said he couldn't make the decision without me and passed up the opportunity to work with the Red Letter Days founder like that I would have half killed him. Then left him.

Being pedantic, Peter Jones wasn't the founder of Red Letter Days, it was started by original Dragon Rachel Elnaugh, and was bought out of administration by Jones and Theo Paphitis when it collapsed.

It did sound like he was mostly after publicity for his existing business. Having the new business given a higher profile through the efforts of a dragon wouldn't hurt the old one either!

If the idea was such a good one, the big players such as Tinder and Match would have had it developed months ago!

I didn't like the life-saving wristband for the simple fact that any t**ser could tap his phone against it and at least know your name and age. At least with a paper capsule version it is private.

I do sometimes think that this is just Dot Com farce. Back then many just set up websites for the sake of it and thought they were then worth millions, now it seems that smart phones are being used to do simple things that just don't need all that technology. But some whiz-kid is just looking for an easy "Everything is better doing it on a smartphone", to write a quick app and they think they will make millions from it. The trouble is that as they are mostly young they have no filter and no one to say "Look! It's doesn't need to be on a smartphone and it does not improve what is already out there already.".

Another flaw was if the friend you were going on dates with hit it off with someone they would leave the double dates part and you would be left on your own unless you could drag someone else in which would presumably change your double date profile ... Seemed like their was a very short shelf life for the double date thing ....

By the looks of it though, the guys on Dragon's Den had already got the app developed whereas Vana was making hers from scratch. They also said that they'd probably need more investors and that they'd dilute their shares, so the same type of issue was presented. I don't know if it'd work, but the Double Date idea seems better in theory than Vana's game-playing idea.

I think for some people it's probably a good idea, but my immediate thought was similar to Sarah's - some friends could fall out if they were interested in the same man or woman.

To relate to your second point in relation to exposure for his current business, I completely agree. Especiallym when he just passed off 'as hindsight is an expensive commodity.'
