The thing with Dragons Den is they seem unwilling to take a risk anymore. They want a large share of the profits, but seem reluctant to take risks. If it hasn't got it's patent their not interested, if it's easy to be copied, not interested, if there's something similar, again not interested, they obviously have never heard of Pepsi, or GM Cars, these companies seem to exist pretty well in the same markets as others.
How can you compare Pepsi to a brand new startup business?

I wasn't, but especially in the last series they seemed reluctant to invest in any business, that had a rival business or was easy to copy. I was pointing out there are very few business's in the World which are unique, In fact none of the Dragon's main business's are unique. To add insult when someone does come up with a unique business, they normally don't invest because it's unique. I would have loved if Duncan Balatine had been around at the start of home computers, I could imagine him saying to HP, "running it from your garage, home computers, I don't see any future in that, who the hell wants to word process at home, the internet, bahh useless.

Duncan Bannatyne, too.

"The Interweb. It's ridiculous, it's ludicrous, and I'm out."

...not a million miles from what a certain B. Gates originally thought. At comdex 1994, it is seen that he said "I see little commercial potential for the Internet for at least 10 years",

For every Pepsi there are thousands of failed drink brands.

Lots of the things they've invested in have been unique.

I know thats my point, unless something is unique, can't be copied, has nothing similar in the market, they're generally not interested. What happened to taking a risk and a punt on something. This last series they really wanted all their "cake and eat it"

In the last series there was a product, I can't remember the exact one, but they were moaning that the initial investors gave less, but had more shares in the company, they didn't seem to appreciate that those investors had taken more risk in the initial start up.

Duncan slates Hilary:

Suggests she wouldn't have been kept on for another series as she was always late for filming. He also has a go at her recent solo show.

I agree with him about the intern, I thought it was rubbish. It's funny really because they always seemed to get on quite well during the pitches. Perhaps she started off better than she finished?

Not sure how they can do it but the whole show can do with being refreshed. Been very tired and predictable the past 2-3 series. Use to be my favorite show on tele but I am pretty meh about it nowadays

Brand new ad for the new series of Dragons' Den which starts sometime in August. You also get to see the 2 new Dragons who joined since Hilary and Theo left.

Hmm interesting. I was having doubts about the show but two new dragons seems to have spiced up the show a bit judging from those clips. Will miss Theo tho.

LOL that sums up the format. Surely they can mix it up this year.

Did I read somewhere Peter has gone too?

I notice the new series only has 6 episodes which is a drastic cutback on previous years.

You didn't spell his name wrong. You got his name completely wrong.

Duncan Banatyne or Duncan Bannatine would be a misspelling.

They've probably split it. Air 6 now and 6 in the winter.

Well done for getting worked up over a 6 month old spelling error.

That's my point, it wasn't a spelling error.

I'll be watching, more out of habit than anything else. It's just become a caricature of the programme it once was.
I do have some sympathy for the producers. Keeping it a semi-serious programme about entrepreneurs looking for investment, while entertaining the public with some of the ridiculous ideas cannot be easy, season after season.
