Have to say while their emphasis on this fantastically fake lift is nauseating I quite liked the first episode, and am a fan of Kelly especially. She gives sound advice (can't remember which one has either Deborah or Peter rolling eyes/shaking head when she was) to people she's not going to invest in. Can come across as a bit rude but Peter was with the last person initially.

Do enjoy this show, even if it is ridiculously samey and generic.

These are stocked by Holland and Barrett and, at £2.99, I cannot imagine them being a huge seller. I saw the episode on which the guy appeared with his 'invention' and thought the dragons would not be affected by his emotional blackmail. He didn't only come without being cognisant of all the facts, but with the wrong information. I was amazed he got an investment. Perhaps the experts saw something in either him or the product which I couldn't. Just to put things into perspective, remember in 2007, shaun pulfrey appeared in the den, with the tangle teezer - I wouldn't be without my two - and the dragons said it was a stupid idea; Shaun has the Queen's award for industry, and the product is a huge success. Even the dragons say he was the one who got away. Yet they invest in this guy and his exorbitantly priced noodles! Figure it out!

Just seen the first episode, and alright they've been slowly strangling it for years, but now I think it's finally dead.

I can't stand Kelly - how obnoxious.

Anyone else find it strange that the Skinny Tan pair had just made profits of 450k but none of the dragons enquired about why they were asking for 60k instead of using their profits to fund expansion.

I went into Holland and Barratt yesterday and there was his Barenaked noodles for sale!! His picture on the box 'as featured on Dragons Den.' One flavour was sold out. £2.99 for a plain packet in some sort of liquid. Quite big not at all like super noodles/dry noodles.

His picture on the box looked so proud. The series must have been filmed some time ago to get this far already.

I think it was quite clear that the money was irrelevant - it was the dragons expertise and contacts they wanted. I was thinking at the time that perhaps they should've asked for a £1.00 investment just to make that crystal clear - but maybe thats against the 'Dragons Den Rules' that we never have fully explained to us

With a £1 investment, the Dragons would not be able to share any extra profits when the company subsequently does well. They need the incentive they get with a proper stake in the company.

I suspect many would be willing to ask for £1 or even £0 just for the chance to appear on national TV, but then it would be too obvious they're just after publicity.

They could, in theory, invest £1 and still get 20% or whatever share they want. The investment contract can be written any way they wish. There is nothing wrong with them being given a share in exchange for services to be rendered, rather than cash up front.

The amount the Dragons earn will depend on the equity they receive, not the amount they put in. Richard Farleigh mentioned on the programme that he often gets offers of equity for no cash input as the company wants his expertise that badly.

But usually on DD the amount of investment is directly linked to the share of equity; that's how they seem to work out the valuation of the company.

So a £1 stake for a share of 10% would only value the business at £10.

The thing that made it for him was that the revelation of the three miscarriages was accidental, it came up as a result of Duncan´s question, then he crumbled, and had to say why. It wasn´t emotional blackmail because he didn´t deliberately go in there sobbing and telling his life. Had that fact not been revealed, i am not sure Peter would have invested.

As for the noodles. We need to see if so far it is just a fad as a consequence of the huge publicity he had, sales might go down. I think the price is way too high for a packet of pasta. Also I am not convinced about the texture and flavor. If it is mainly water I think 3 pounds is a rip-off, and if that the case the texture must be pretty soggy, no body, and absolutely tasteless. It is too early to say that it is a success.

Peter seemed to only invest in him because he thought he had a good brand, despite saying that it tasted like baby food. But, we'll see how much of a success it can become with the help of the investment.

We tried the noodle version and it was quite repellent, horrible texture which you had to chew for ages and then couldnt swallow. Shall not be buying again.
