I've gone off the last couple of series. There seems to be so much padding of here's what coming up or here's what's happened and from watching last night's show there were spoilers for that dog food pitch in last weeks show. They also seem to have the annoying habit of just showing people who pitches were not successful 'and here's who wasn't successful'

Still amazes me though the people who come on and don't even do the basic homework of knowing how much their turn-over and profit are, or you get them with a business turning over £10ks and you think 'why are you even asking for money?'

It's merely one way of avoiding admitting that you've never made a profit.

What are the ratings like for DD?

Anyone think DD should perhaps change to a live audience format, to add a bit of energy to the show? You may say that the isolation of the pitcher vs the dragons is the whole concept of the show, but IMO that is the entire problem now - the concept.

Perhaps have themed Den shows, like Dragon's Den: Food, or Dragon's Den: Kids, or Dragons Den: Electronics. That way there would specifically be 5 or 6 pitches of the same industry in the episode, and I think that would entice viewers more.

Change the theme tune. Maybe get rid of Ewan. Cut the filler (do you realise the first 4 minutes of the show is just the intro cards? appalling). Change the format whereby the big investment is always last. With Duncan going, get a young entrepreneur in, to add some life back to the Dragon's.

On the other hand, while Peter now is looking quite bored, I think Deborah is going from strength to strength. In Theo's absence and Duncan's state of disrepair, Deborah is having some of her strongest moments nowadays. Maybe she has more to lose from the show being cancelled? She is the dragon with the least cash after all, so her business cant be that successful.

Oh, and Peter, stop mentioning Levi Roots, it's bloody boring. Are you really trying to tell us that in about 10 years you've made one deal worth mentioning? You should be keeping that hush hush.

they really should cancel the show and tell these old dragons there "out" and let people see the USA "sharks tank" instead - it really is a much much better show

perhaps even channel 4 could show it instead of the endless loop of frasier and raymond plus the daily 3.5 hours of come dine with me

I used to love this programme but am giving up on it. The dragons now seem to want to sneer at everyone, put them down and then either say "I'm out" or want a large part of the business for next to nothing. In my opinion the programme is a shadow of its former self. Also, I still haven't worked out why miserable old Duncan is there!

Old......maybe, miserable......sometimes

but he usually gives an very honest opinion of a pitch. You won't catch Duncan sugaring the pill called "advice".

I love the way the dragons never seem to stick with their own rules, last week they allowed the dancing guy to basically change his whole idea, just because they didn't like it. This week they tell the dog food guys "but it's a very saturated market and there's competition (glad Pepsi didn't listen to the Dragons, when they went against Coke), but with the cereal people they basically ignored the fact there's very similar products out there, and only Duncan mentioned he buys a similar product.

They seem very greedy in the last 5 series or so, the product may be good, but because it can't get a patent, or it's already a competitive market they don't seem interested in putting in the work themselves. Or its a fantastic idea but they demand such a high stake in the company, because of the risk. You can't have it both ways.

I wonder if Levi Roots would of even got a look in today, or the women with the "thingy" for pulling wires through cavities.

There is too much emphasis on cash in DD - with the big pile of fake £50s in front of the Dragons and Ewan banging on about it.
A savvy business person won't really need the cash, but what they want is the Dragons time and contacts to take the business to the next level.
I recall Richard Farley saying that he gets businesses give him shares for free just so he will advise them.
I'd love someone come on and offer 25% of their business for just £1 - would certainly mix things up a bit!
