What are the ratings like for this new series? Are they still declining?

Why?! What idiot moved it there and why?! For all its previous series it's always been in the UK tv thread and now suddenly it's labelled as 'reality' it's been moved there where no one can find it?

That's great! Well done!

Exactly! Get it back over here for goodness sake so we can all discuss and talk about it! I don't even read the 'reality' forum as i'm not into any of that TOWIE/MIC garbage.

Make, or possibly buy off Amazon...

Either they pinched the idea.....or the Hong Kong shop did!

Had to agree with all Dragons on the daft branding of "Fat Lad at the Back" clothing for Lycra terrorists in mid life crisis. Very sexist.

Where was the "Fat Female at the Back"?

Not sexist at all.

Mods, can we have this back in "TV shows" UK, where it should be? Then we wont have someone starting a "New" thread.

Mallow Marsh women was crazy, she should of asked Peter to put his money where his mouth is and offer him a 20% buy back should she hit her targets. But her product is very overpriced £3.00 for 3 pieces!! or a box of 12 for £10.00, thats beyond luxury, she's going to find it hard to sustain those prices.

Quite a lot of promotion - the site now gives you the opportunity to Become a Dragon, by investing in the company through Kickstarter.

The product does seem expensive though - £3 for a box with 3 pieces. I'd rather buy a packet (for £1.50?) with lots of pieces.

I was expecting her to ask for this, perhaps even with trying for a reduction in percentage if she hit certain targets. However, as others have said, it seems that the publicity was the aim.

I'd say that's about right personally. How much would you expect something that cost 70p to retail at?

Agree while the investor will give the money, which is largely unimportant, what the Dragons offer is "door opening", with Peter he already has all the contacts with supermarkets etc, which she is going to find hard with the pricing on her product.

They aren't "inventors" I don't recall them being announced as such. They were on another business show "Be Your Own Boss" where they explained this is a game played in Vietnam which they have brought over here, there is something about that on their website.

As for the 70p price, it's an eye opener but from watching previous Dragon's Den pitches that seems what it needs to be in the toy/gift marketplace whether it was a UKick or a boomerang or whatever.
Dragon's Den hopefuls usually do an explanation that a product costs 70p, they sell to a distributor for £1, distributor doubles the price to £2, which the toy shops/department stores need to buy at to put it on the shelf at £8 inc VAT.

There's no money in it as the Dragons said. Even if they were able to double their money and charge the distributor £1.40, they would make on their container of 18,000 units £12,600, they need to take the salary for at least two people out of that and goodness knows what their business costs are. The Dragon's would never get their £60,000 back.

If it did become popular then the cheap pound shops will be onto it being able to buy direct from a factory for 25p, cheaper shipping because they have whole ships filled with hundreds of products for their shelves and the cheap shops take a smaller margin than a toyshop/department store needs. Just like they were able to do with "Loom bands" fuelling a craze. UKick is not a new invention so no protection.

I suspect people's main bugbear is the £3.99 postage cost on top when buying from them, in the age of Amazon people hate paying for additional postage. Ideal World TV shopping were trying to sell a twin pack for £16.99 plus £4.99 postage here but they couldn't sell it and it's now "on sale".

Unbelievable that they conveniently ignore that fact in their pitch and website...”

I'm sure the Dragon's asked about how it originated (they always do) but they must have cut that from the broadcast. The information about them discovering the game in Vietnam is on their website at the bottom of the "about" page here. I saw them on the "Be your own Boss" BBC show and they explained it's origins as part of their pitch so I suspect it was just taken out in the editing of this show.

Duncan doesn't want her marshmallows.

She DID say she had an independant backer which made me wonder why she was needing the Dragons.

Marshmallow maker proves she's no soft touch telling Dragons Den: I’m out

Daring move to go solo sees her find £150,000 of investment

Still think the dragons would have opened more doors and grown the business quicker, so I still think she made a mistake.

Now you come to mention it, those "other people who appeared in the den" montages do seem to be pretty much advert break length and are placed in round about the right place too. Good spot.

I don't like marshmallows so I would never buy them but if she could get them into the right sort of upmarket retailer then I can see the price working as an impulse purchase. Whether or not the business could turn over enough to make money is a different question

BIB, I thought it sounded like they were saying UKIP.
Is this the last Dragon's Den series? I really think it has run its course.
