If it had collapsed it would have been the quickest pullout of an investment ever.

Exactly what I thought. Maybe she's going soft. Or maternal..

As for Peter's radiator test, it was the material that failed, not the fixing. Shame the lad didn't point that out.

Would have been funny though

I'm sure we'd all like our dad to lend us £200,000 to fund a business idea.

He certainly had a hefty leg up the ladder with the "loan" from his dad. I didn't hear Deborah asking about the repayment terms of the 'loan' which she would have asked any other entrepreneur coming into the den.

I think he said (but I may have misheard) that the loan was subsequently converted to Equity.

As an aside I wonder whether Deborah would have risked it if Daddy was not a gold/diamond mine owner

Without Theo, and soon to be without Duncan, the show has lost its sense of humour. It's now a parody of itself, it's impossible to take seriously with that fake lift.”

There's far too much tat on offer now and food and allied businesses and not enough true innovation and inventions - yes, it's had its day, like all TV shows when they don't know when to pull the plug.

You could rip any radiator of from chipboard/plasterboard, especially without the pipes connected to add strength.

The last pitch was very, "what's the word biased!" I'm sure he only got it because of his age. He did a good pitch etc, but they failed again to ask things like, repayment of loan, does the grandfather have any claim on the product, seeing how he probably invented it. And the one they always ask "but one little product, doesn't make a business, what else have you got"

He got the investment because he's very marketable, not because of the actual item.

That is because the dragons are not philanthropists or angel investors, they are simply venture capitalists looking for a guaranteed return raking in a shed load of money numerous times that what they invested, the people put forward reflect this.

That is why you will not see any unusual higher risk business proposals, you may find a few innovative products and new inventions being pushed, but normally they already come with investors and existing orders making them attractive to the dragons as they see they pound signs flashing up.

I would like to see a similar show, but one which involves more of a risk, just give it to people who seem to have a good idea and want to develop it, then a couple of years later have a follow up programme as to what happened.

That last bloke seems to be doing very well http://www.telegraph.co.uk/finance/b...agons-Den.html
He's obviously a born entrepreneur. He started his first business at 12 yrs old and left school at 13!

But wasn't the product specifically designed to fix into plasterboard? Which is inherently weak anyway (just brittle chalk with paper stuck both sides).

(BTW, how can a machine to make those fittings cost £350,000? At a few pence profit each, the entire western world would need to be saturated with them, before he breaks even. Perhaps that is the better business to be in ...)

Yes, that test proved it works as it was the plasterboard that broke.

I think it's one of those that may be better if you are actually playing it rather than describing it.

Then again!

Duncan just wants it so that he can sell more than 15,000 and so out-do Peter.
And sod the company.

Duncan shouldn't be allowed to increase his percentage like that. He made an offer of 15% so he should stick to it.

It's obvious that you can't protect a helmet with a light on. Such a thing's been used in mining for years.

Is the safety requirement of the helmet compromised by the built in lights ?
