Has anyone got a good and easy chocolate sauce recipe? I was given a chocolate cake in a tin at Christmas. It's a good quality John Lewis one but I presume it's just a dry cake inside so I want to make a chocolate sauce to go with it. Something rich and yummy.

Any ideas?

Melt some strong dark chocolate with a little double cream in a bain marie. Can mount with some very cold butter at the end for more glossiness (stir in small cubes of cold butter once chocolate and cream are fully mixed together). Do not ever stir too enthusiastically. Take it easy.

Can get a more stable sauce by melting some liquid glucose (or clear honey) with the cream and chocolate.

For a very yummy chocolate fudge sauce, melt a mars bar in the microwave with some single cream

Here's one without cream in case you don't like/have any in:

Rich Chocolate Sauce
6 oz (170 g) of plain chocolate
6 fl oz (170 ml) of water
4 oz (115 g) of caster sugar
2 oz (55 g) of butter
1 tsp of vanilla extract

Cut chocolate and butter into small pieces. Place all of the ingredients together in a saucepan and heat over a low heat, stirring continuously till fully melted, serve.

Thank you. I'll think about those and choose one.
