Everything Everywhere want Nokia 920 (4G) Exclusive
Everything Everything are in talks with Nokia to make the Lumia 920 exclusive to their network as it is capable of 4G LTE.

Not much point negotiating exclusivity if yours is the only 4G network in the country. I can't see O2 and Vf fighting to stock a phone that would only be used to its full potential when traveling abroad.

It wouldn't exactly be a bad move either.
The handset's more likely to sell well on EE anyway, so if Nokia can get a bit of money iin return for exclusivity (even if it's just temporary), then it makes a lot of sense frankly. |

This deal would be huge for Nokia and Microsoft if EE were to push the 920 has their Hero device. Windows Phone doesn't get pushed in retail stores and if EE start to focus on the OS with walkthroughs/advertisements we could start to see marketshare increasing in the UK.

Nokia's last good phone was the N8 and users of those phones are coming / have come to the end of their contracts. If the can't get a decent Nokia phone they'll go else where and for mobile manufacturers conquest sails are very very expensive compared to upgrade sales. |

People might not switch networks for the phone, but would they switch networks for LTE? I would say a lot wouldn't, but a not insignificant number would. The real question is this number large enough for an exclusivity to EE worth it for Nokia? I'm not sure - maybe - if the Lumia is pushed as the 'hero device'.
But if the rumours are true and the iPhone will support 1800Mhz LTE, then Nokia might as well not bother. |

The problem for nokia is it's going to be hard enough to get people to switch to Lumia and WP8. they are unlikely to switch networks for it.
And if Nokia can get the 920 to market before any Android devices (unlikely but not impossible), then it becomes really the only option other than the iPhone and will benefit, somewhat, from that position. |

But it's not just switching networks for a particular handset, it's switching networks for 4G.
And if Nokia can get the 920 to market before any Android devices (unlikely but not impossible), then it becomes really the only option other than the iPhone and will benefit, somewhat, from that position. it is also highly likely to the point of being inevitable that there will be another, probably android, LTE phone available by then. so the situation you will have is that there will be LTE phones in all flavours. only nokia's will not be available to vod and o2 customers. |

Apple was able to pull it off because the iPhone was so desirable, and because O2 was prepared to give them stacks of money (money that could have been better spent on their network). Nokia is not really in a position to be picking and choosing who to sell to.
I don't see too many people moving networks just to get this phone. LTE is wonderful and all but it'll probably be a while before LTE coverage is available in any meaningful form, especially if O2 succeeds in throwing their dollies out the pram. |

Surely the 920 needs a big a market as possible it would be a mistake for nokia to accept this. If they could have a specific version exclusive then fine otherwise I feel just more problems for nokia. 4G will not be enough of an incentive alone to purchase this handset especially if it involves changing provider for people.

I hardly ever use 3G I don't see 4g as that big of deal, I download music and video at home. I suppose if it was unrestricted I would stream more outside of the home.

Ive had a long think about if this is a good or bad thing for Nokia and im not conviced it will be good. The range of phones is:
Samsung Galaxy SIII LTE with a 4.8 inch HD Super AMOLED display, you can watch videos on your mobile like never before. Innovative Smart Stay automatically recognises when you are looking at the phone, maintaining a bright display for continued viewing pleasure. Nokia Lumia 920 flagship Nokia Windows Phone 8 smartphone. Take bright, blur-free photos and videos in any light conditions with PureView technology Optical Image Stabilisation and Carl Zeiss lens and view on a 4.5 PureMotion HD+ capacitive display. Nokia Lumia 820 colourful, stylish, innovative design, with a 4.3 OLED WVGA screen. Capture great photos and movies with an 8MP Auto Focus camera, with Carl Zeiss optics and dual LED flash. Charge wirelessly without plugging in using a Wireless Charging Shell. The HTC One XL high quality entertainment and precision navigation combine in this handset, thanks to a large 4.7 HD touchscreen display. Full HD video, and front and rear facing camera let you capture crisp, vivid photos and movies in high quality wherever you are. Huawei Ascend P1 LTE a powerhouse dual-core processor is packed in to this handsets slim design. Take stunningly clear images or HD videos on an 8MP autofocus camera with LED flash and playback on the 4.3 high-res touchscreen. If the New iPhone is added then its probably very bad for Nokia. The Galaxy S3 LTE will sell well. http://everythingeverywhere.com/2012...k-a-new-brand/ |

I will definitely be getting an 920 on EE and the only thing I cannot work out is would a 4G sim card work in my existing iPhone 4S.
Too early to tell but I am well impressed with the 920 anyway! |

It'd be like putting a 3G-capable SIM into a 2G-only handset. |

99.9% yes, you just wouldn't be able to get LTE with it as the iPhone 4S doesn't support LTE.

People will move to EE if they want LTE and some of those people will not know which phone to buy and just choose one at random, therefore the Nokia phones will sell well enough.

The iPhone 5 will support LTE so it looks like a big mistake for Nokia to make the 920 exclusive to EE
