iPod question

Hi, I bought a new iPod about a month back, and I was wondering how I take all the music off my old iPod so I can give it to my Mum?

Also is it possible to put all the music on my new iPod? I don't really want to at the moment but I was just wondering if it was possible. Oh and also I would want to have the music on my laptop and it is currently all on a PC? Can you just transfer select tracks over? I have already started burning CD's I like onto the laptop so thee isn't much point transferring it all.

There is an option on the iPod under Settings > General to clear the iPod completely. This will erase all settings, music, game progress, etc so be certain that this is what you want. I would make sure that you have everything you want on your new iPod before clearing the old one.

Personally I would take a backup of yout iTunes library before doing anything.

You will probably find that your iTunes library is held in

My Documents\My Music\iTunes\iTunes Music.

The music is normally held by Artist and then album.

You can find the location from within iTunes. Select Edit > Preferences and then click on the Advanced tab and it is displayed in a box.

You should be able to copy these folders using Windows Explorer onto a memory stick and then copy them to the same location on your laptop.

You may have to register iTunes on the laptop with the same account details as the PC to play some tracks.

There may be an easier way of doing it but this is the method that I use.

You can sync your iTunes library to as many iDevices as you want.
