Have to admit, I am REALLY enjoying this new series - the familiar writing deficiencies are still there, but there seems to be a concentrated effort to instigate more on going storylines, and it seems more grounded in the adult characters than it has in a while - The Connor storyline, the Michael storyline, the situation with Grantly and the boarding house, the Tariq thing, there seems to be a lot going on, and whilst I have LIKED a lot of the show since series 3, I can rarely remember it being as enjoyable or dramatically rewarding as this for a fair wee while.

Im enjoying a lot of the enw students, some of my faves for a while - Jasmine I particularly have to single out as completely likeable - and very eccentric - loving this character - and her and Connors romance feels quite grounded and "real" for this show.

Yeah - its the most overt focus on on-going storylines/drama then I can remember the show has had for a fairly long while - I also think Michael has cemented himself as THE principle of the school by this point - Hes an awesome actor that guy - principled and genuinely caring about the children, but with a flawed selfish streak that makes him interesting as well.

Yes i agree, Michael a great actor and he has an interesting story just like Rachel Mason, they both want wants best for the children and WR but they both had a shaddy past.
Im also enjoying the alcoholic SL and Tariq SL, and i like how its not just finished after one episode and like you said on-going, before you'd have an ep focused on one character and never see them again.

I hope they keep Michael edgy - in the end, Rachel had went from great character to a rather beige, boring creature - I have noticed that the last 2 series before this were SLIGHTLY better for having less one ep characters, but this season has truly gotten back to its more soapy routes

I've been enjoying it too, I thought it'd struggle moving up to Scotland but it has been good to watch.

The only gripe ive had is that only a handful of characters actually have a Scottish accent despite now being set there!

The only thing I don't like about WR is the new Thursday slot. It was my midweek treat
