Almost certain that the feature is Brianna Perry who is a female rapper so it makes sense as it will be a hip-hop track which is good but at the same time a bit underwhelming.
It's not bad. I'm not really sure what to think of it just now, it's far from my favourite Nicki Minaj song. I don't see this doing well on the UK Chart. I know what you mean about the Hey Soul Sister vibe. The song is all over the place. Gonna wait till I hear more songs before deciding on whether to bother with the Re-Up or not.
Cassie? Hmm... I'm sure Nicki could afford a better feature.
Anyway, I like Nicki's verses and that hypes me up for 'The Re-Up', but the chorus ruins it all for me. It sounds like 2 songs squeezed into one. I shall however bare in mind that Nicki has never been particularly good with lead singles ('Massive Attack' and 'Stupid Hoe' weren't exactly wise choices), so maybe the second single will surprise me and win me over
You can't even hear Cassie...literally her voice just hangs in the background like some anonymous backing vocalist. This song is just garbage, and Nicki has completely sold out with this era. PF was great with a mixture of pop/hip-hop moments with a fresh sound....PF:RR has so far just been generic pop trash (except for Starships and a few album tracks) and the hip-hop material is watered down and weak.
Nicki is only cementing herself further as the female equivalent of Pitbull and Flo-Rida. I'm disappointed.
To be fair Cassie needs her name on something
She has done one album in just 7 years. Her second album has been delayed so many times because the singles they are releasing, well they are awful and bland and no one is buying them. Her career is in total ruins because realistically, her first album never sold well and she only had the one hit from it
The verses and the chorus just don't go together at all, it comes across as Nicki cant rap about anything other than about how great she is and how much money she has. You can tell its a Cassie reject track as the chorus is just weak and lifeless. Nicki's verses are good, except for using "bitches is my sons" for the 10th time now, but unrelated to the song
This song is not as good as "Champion or HOV Lane which should have been released instead. Dont see how this song will win back the hip-hop fans back as the chrorus sounds too poppy and it doesn't need a crossover hit as she has pop songs. So overall its a mess tbh.
