Why do a lot of songwriters go to the trouble of creating a new tune and then insult it by labelling it with a generic title?

You'd think if you put the effort in you could come up with something, if not unique, something less lazy than, say, It's Only Love, Turn Up The Radio, As Long As You Love Me, This Is Love just to name a few.

Sadly, I have to say, Madonna is the queen of hijacked song titles and her back catalogue to riddled with them.

I Love You is possibly the most used title.

Song titles like Turn Up The Music - Chris Brown and Where Them Girls At - David Guetta/Nicki Minaj.

You just know what the song is going to be like from the title.

"Good Times" - seems to be at least one song released every summer with a title such as this.

Live It Up, Live Your Life, Living for Today anything with live in the title.

i Love You, Is This Love, Love Me , Loving You, anything with love.

Turn it Up, Turn Up The music, Turn it down low, Turn it three decibles higere anything with live in the title.

One word in a title pretty much sums it up

Nobody's Perfect.

Everyone needs to stop making these songs. I think we know already.

I don't really care what a song is called because it's just a title, it could be an amazing song! Bad Romance is a great song, generic title you may say but who really cares? It's just a title!

Four different songs with the same commonly used title that were all very big hits in their day. The first two are excellent, the third is good, and the fourth is dire (imo):-

Let's Dance - Chris Montez (1962)

Let's Dance - David Bowie (1983)

Let's Dance - Chris Rea (1987)

Let's Dance - Five (2001)

I remember reading that "Tonight" was the most used title. That was some years ago, though.

I used to catalogue all of my cd's and the simple title "Home" was very popular.

Yeah, look at the amount of times she's used 'girl' in her song titles, like she needs to remind herself/us what sex she is.

You've mentioned the Sugababes twice for the title Sometimes. Erasure had a hit with Sometimes as well.

Song titles with the word 'call' in the title are very common. Call Me, Call On Me etc also the word 'Crazy' has been used many times.

That's not particularly generic. I was thinking more of ... well y'know generic: Let's Dance, I Love You Baby, Don't Leave Me, etc...
