Damn Nintendo and their 'up to retailers' decision.

The Premium is £199.99 at the moment on Amazon, but the Basic is £249.99. Go figure.

Amazon are asking roughly the same price (£250) for their basic, but their Premium is £15 cheaper than Tesco, at £285.

That's changed then. The premium 32gb in black was £284.99 a few minutes ago.

Must be an error. That's £100 cheaper than Tesco.

What's the crack with those Tesco prices, if you want it on 7/12/12 you pay £30 more than you will on 8/12/12?

The £299 one comes with Nintendo Land, the £330 one is with Zombie U. But yeah, different release dates on them.

It keeps flicking between the two now - I see £284.99 in search listings and £199 on the product page.

They've now removed the Premium price from the product page completely, and the search listing has gone up a fiver from the original and is now £289.

I think it's best to give it a few days at let the prices settle down while the retailers play cat and mouse for a bit.

Even then, they may change again just before launch as they did with the Vita.

Essentially it is the same price as the Wii at launch with the cost of a Game Pad on top.

Hmm yes, the Wii was overpriced for some time, and it didn't seem to hurt it. I dunno, I get a different feeling here. I think once the public perception is of an expensive item, it'll be a really difficult, N64-shaped uphill struggle.

As ever, we'll see, but for me personally it's going to have to work harder than that to get me this time. £300 is not easy to come by for me these days, and games on top.

I pre-ordered the Black Wii U Premium [NintendoLand] bundle for £279 from shopto.net earlier + NMSBU, Rayman Legends and ZombiU!

Leaving Darksiders 2 and Sonic & All-Stars Racing for Christmas.

It isn't supposed to be anything, Nintendo hasn't set a price for Europe.

I agree I think these fluctuations in price are mainly due to the retailers trying to suss each other out until a sort of consensus price appears.

I really do think i'm going to wait on this one though (although I am interested). Keep in mind that the N64, Gamecube and 3DS all had significant price drops within a couple of months after launch, I'll hold fire to see if it happens again.

If you want a black one, then Premium is the way to go. But for anyone happy with white, surely it's cheaper to buy a Basic and then get a 32Gb SD card? Or have I missed something?

Wii's RRP was £179.99 at launch. It was only due to the shortages the more money than sense brigade were willing to spend £300+ on one on eBay.
It was the likes of Game that wouldn't sell it on its own and made you spend out on a bundle.

What is this I'm hearing about the announcement of Bayonetta 2 and it's Wii U exclusive? Is that even true? Either way Bayonetta 2 on Wii U is gonna be great.

Yeah, Nintendo is bank rolling it and publishing it - it will be exclusive.

Nintendo can't. They got screwed by the European Commission for "price-fixing" so they have stopped providing prices
