I see they have updated the kindle fire processor, have they also updated the OS or is it still android 2.3?

There's no info yet. Just ICS for the HD. Remember it's a skinned version and doesn't have features like the Play store anyway.

There are several online Fire HD reviews which all say its based on Android 4.0. As previous poster mentioned, don't forget its Amazon skinned and locked down.
