X Factor Finalists' Longetivity
Here are my predictions for the career longetivity of last years X Factor finalists.
Little Mix- Second single to hit top ten, but fall out of top forty quickly. No number one. Capital FM does not get onboard. Debut album to sell well in first week, and definately reach top 3 if not top spot. Does not sustain sales and falls out of chart within five weeks. Third single is a flop, no fourth single. Possible band break up in between recording of second album. Marcus Collins- We all know what has happened already. Ameilia Lily- Debut single hits number one for one week. Falls out of top ten in under four weeks. Gets Gold. Second single underperforms. Scrapes top twenty/thirty, while album barely makes top 10 and falls out of chart quickly. Amelia gets dropped and finds independent label. If released, second abum is a critical success. Misha B- second single struggles to reach the upper limits of top 40, and album is delayed. Either that or it bombs harder than Alexandra Burke. Agree/Disagree? Add your own artists. |

How come it's always the X Factor finalists that people automatically put a timer on there career? I actually think Little Mix and Amelia will do incredibly well.

Apparently Misha B will be featured on Nicki Minaj's Automatic remix, that's big news for her.. who knows where that could lead to, possibly a YMCMB signing

Whoever is involved expect to hear press releases with comments such as 'taking a rest' and 'In a studio in LA working on new material'.

Misha B might do well in the USA but for the UK, I just dont see it happening. The UK just does not like vibrant, loud and bubbly black women. Fact.
As for Little Mix, I think they are just a girl group clone of One D, and if they flop, Syco will fling them out of the door in the blink of an eye so to focus solely on their treasured 1D. I see them breaking up quite soon as well. That Perrie girl especially. |

because they generally have very limited talent and dont write their own songs so end up with crap ones - the only ones from any of the reality singing shows over the last 10 or so years with a modicum of talent to last are will young, girls aloud, rebecca ferguson (although shes done it for herself) and leona lewis |

Little Mix are gonna do very well. They will be our next big girlband i reckon. Something The Saturdays failed to do
I think Amelia Lily may do well Misha B, hmm i don't know. Her material hasn't matched her talent. |

I think the Little Mix one is way off personally. I think they're going to be huge.

I think Little Mix will do well. They have so far had 2 #1s (and a 3rd if you count the charity single that the live show acts did). Their video has over 8m views on YouTube already and many, many hardcore fans (a lot of girls... who are the prime people when it comes to downloading).

Little Mix getting a number one away from the support of the X Factor is an indicator that there is some hope of a recording future. I can even see some US interest thanks to One Direction/Cher Lloyd success.

There's no limit to how long they can go on for...as long as they have enough fans ect
Take Jedward..they may not have great record sales in the UK, but three years on they are still huge in Ireland, their third album Young Love going straight to number 1..its also topped the charts in many Eastern European countries and asia..they are really popular in Indonesia and Singapore...as well charting in Sweden and Germany They perform sell out tours even in the UK and are just about to release another single LUMINOUS in a few weeks... Not to mention they have one TV show airing in the UK...another they are about to record and at present they are recording their second series of christmas shows in Ireland ![]() http://youtu.be/l43_cYFz2cA |

The op's opinions on Little Mix are way too personal, how can you even compare them with One Direction when 1D sell music mainly based on their looks whereas one of LM's main selling points is their strong vocals and harmonies. The fact that they got a #1 without any X Factor support already shows they have more potential than you think they do.
Little Mix have every potential to be big. They can sing, they can dance, they can write songs and play instruments, more importantly they have Simon Cowell's support. The only thing they need is a good stylist. |

True but Stooshe have had massive sales this year. But I think Little Mix will have global success.

Overview- Three months later
Have my predictions been right?
Little Mix: 'DNA'- their second single underperformed! Reached top 10 but fell out in a week. (Prediction in regards to their second single was right). They do receive Capital backing (prediction missed). Their album went in at number 3 (prediction correct) and now, less than three weeks after release, it is not in the Top 100 on iTunes. Amelia Lily: debut single went in at number two, and not number one. (prediction missed). Gold certificated. Second single will not do as well as said before. Album will not set charts alight ( low top 10 or high top 20 entry). Misha B: Second single does better than 'Home Run' (and can I say- it is a LOT better ) , goes in at number 9.(prediction MISSED) Third single will go in the top 20. Album to do better than Amelia Lily's. What do you think? Agree? And what about the current crop of X Factor finalists? How do you think they will fare in a years time? |

I can assure you the 3rd single won't be a flop. It's "Change Your Life", which they performed on CIN and received a positive response. It also lead to people cherry-picking it from the album and it shot up to the Top 75 on iTunes. So there's definitely public interest in the track. |

Well first of all, DNA (single) got to #3 at the busiest time of year, and lost out against Bruno Mars and 1D, hardly anything to scoff at. It sold 70k+ first week which is great considering the record sales are generally terrible atm. It's currently lingering around top 20 after a month of release, so hardly "a quick fall out of the top 40", which I see you've conveniently omitted from this little update. Their album is largely a physical seller, I assume, considering it's around #12 on it's 3rd week (I'm making a guess here, since this week's chart hasn't been revealed, but it was #12 in both midweeks.) It also still sold 30k+ last week after a seemingly disappointing drop, and will likely have similar sales this week. Not to mention, with Christmas fast approaching, I can see it sustaining good sales throughout the holidays.

Black Heart was a bigger hit than a lot of #1s. It's sold more than Wings.
