Yes, they've totally changed her, in a good way. She feels a bit more... real, I guess? Bit less OTT, less of a caricature. She still has many of the same traits, but isn't a walking cartoon. I love the way they changed how she dresses too.
And again, agree, with later ending, it seems to be much meatier, dramatic material with her family. It's nice to see.
