I agree Nigel, the entrances were bloomin brilliant, especially when it went wrong. I actually did really like the idea though. As you say I hope they keep it.

In regards to X factor. First year I've not watched and it seems many feel the same. Those viewing figures are really bad

They didn't really fix what was broken with the xfactor and then they never listened to public opinion in regards to Grimshaw, the whole thing felt even more manufactured with scouted and invited acts, its a parody of its self now really.

I totally agree, absolutely despise both Grimshaw and Ora so as soon as they were announced I knew I wouldn't be watching this year.

Anyone else keeping an eye out for the tennis in New York atm? Basically all about Serena now trying to make history (while not being a massive fan of hers I really hope she does it).

Can't see anyone challenging her. Hope she does it. I'm a big fan

Always watching tennis all year round.

Losing favs left, right and centre on the first day... and before the first day with Maria withdrawing through injury. I do want Serena to do the CYGS, but with my 2nd fav Aga surviving the day 1 cull, I'm still holding out the draw continues to collapse in that half and she can finally come good!

Praying Sabine can get a semi-decent result on another surface...

Kygrios is literally the worse thing in tennis currently. Also sobbing at how the top half of the womens draw has crashed and burned all topped off with Genie winning.

I've just seen Nick and Genie are playing mixed doubles together. How long before they snap and kill each other?

Genie winning a match was the biggest shock of the day! Like I said in the tennis thread, imagine the internet meltdown if Genie was the one to stop the CYGS.

I had no idea Bouchard was so loathed! I feel much better knowing I'm not alone.

My interest in the US Open was very short lived this year with no one left to root for (expect Serena).

I think a lot of people were put off with her cockiness and all the handshake dramas at Fed Cup.

Plus her history of stealing coaches. Before they were famous, Robson would bring Bouchard along to practice with her and introduced her to Saviano who then shared coaching duties with both players. Eventually Bouchard decided to go with Saviano full time and cut all friendships out of her life. Then more recently she poached Vika's coach Sam without Vika's knowledge, although that partnership didn't last long.

It's the bratty, self-entitled attitude when she's done nothing in her career to earn it.

She's been on a great run, not lost a match since Maria at Wimbledon! Hope she can pull off her great display against Garbine like she did at Queens when she should meet her in round 2!

Gutted for Laura, really thought she could have had that, I feel she just needs that confidence boost that would come from winning a slam match. Is that 2 of her protected ranking places gone now?

In contrast to Konta, Garbine hasn't won a match since Wimbledon and the way the seeds are tumbling so far...

It's gutting, but I'm trying to give Laura the benefit of the doubt, easy to get back into the tennis routine I imagine, but not so easy to close out matches after so long out with injury, little confidence and no form. As with the McHale match last week, at least she's putting herself in the position of being able to win matches. 2016 will be her year.
