Haven't watched the X Factor since 2009. Never been tempted to watch it since.

I only really watch the live shows now. Don't take it too seriously bit of light entertainment, like seeing people getting so wound up about it on twitter/fb though (probably be me when I get right into it haha)

I just see it as a glamorized karaoke contest that's dragged on much longer than it should have, just like Big Brother.

I haven't watched it since 2006.
Oooooh get you!

This is definitely the end for the x factor.

You could actually see someone whispering to Louis what to do. It was actually embarrassing

You know it kind of survived when Jedward were saved over Lucy.

She was better than him but she wouldn't have lasted more than a few weeks. She'll be forgotten by the end of the series.

The show was in its peak then, it's really struggling now

Agreed. Let's face it, coming bottom of the vote in the first week doesn't exactly bode well for your future chances. I feel sorry for Carolynne, her being the better singer by far and all, but there was no way they were getting rid of Rylan so early. Ratings are all they're interested in.

Edit: Although I just watched it and I agree the way it was handled won't do the show any favours at all.

Just wrote all my deadlines down and I have sooo much work to do damn you final year.

Gonna make the 70s contest my last forum contest of 2012, the hours I spend listening to the songs I can spend working

But before the work i'm gonna see Sinister at the cinema tomorrow, anyone seen it yet?

Same here. I got over these singing talent shows about 5 years ago.

Reading what happened on the show, I can't say I'm too surprised because it's been done X number of times before, yet people are getting all over excited as if it was the first time faux drama was used to create controversy.

I think the show has finally jumped the shark. It's hilariously bad TV.

This is why you should always pick a course you actually enjoy doing. I just finished typing up a report on the conservation status of the American cockroach...bliss!

I enjoy the course but development studies by definition takes in a wide range of areas of academic interest. Poverty measurement is interesting at first but very quickly becomes boring. I've done the key reading for this week however and I can tell the water resource use lecture is going to be very interesting, it's more of my sorta thing. I'm doing straight DEV - i.e. without specializing - so it's kinda inevitable that there'll be modules I'm not so interested in, particularly in the first year when I don't get any choice over what ones I take. Then again... it accounts for precisely 0% of my final degree so as long as I pass then I'll be fine.

How are you finding living in Aberdeen? I've never been there before, I think the furthest north we went was Fort William and that was mightily chilly!

I meant to say I was up in Aberdeen last Friday. Ever been to Private Eyes?

If not, you should go. It's great but I spent a fortune

I'm really liking it at the moment, although to be fair the weather's been kind so far. I have no doubt the novelty will have worn off by January and I'll never want to see another slab of granite again.

Not really my scene Last Friday you say? Round about the time you were paying some poor woman to let you dry hump her I was at the Oktoberfest celebrations.
