I can't get too excited about the Davis Cup. It does seem rather odd that in what is a team tournament an individual can win three of the five points on offer (2 as singles, 1 as double). They should restrict it to two appearances per player.

But if they win at doubles, thats hardly an individual performance is it?!!!!

I think the Davis and Fed cups are brilliant for Tennis, give such a great atmosphere and team focus on what is one of the most individual sports out there! Anything that brings individuals together in a sport like that is great I feel, like the relays in Athletics or Swimming. Its just a brilliant event!

So chuffed the boys did it today! What a brilliant moment for GB Tennis, hopefully this can inspire the future, we need some depth!!

His sarcastic wit is brilliant, (gets it from Judy) and he's full of personality when trading barbs with Jamie and taking the mick out of Henman. His exhibition matches are testament to that, like when he was constantly throwing jibes at his old coach Lendl during Rally For Bally.

He's a good character on twitter too, bit sarcy and always following the exploits of the rest of the Brits and is a rare ATP player that's a fan of the WTA.

The players are generally too tired for anything more than stock rinse and repeat Q & A's during post-match interviews and Andy has been burned before by the media, which people still bring up even though it was completely misrepresented and a hack journos fault.

I'd rather it went to a genuine sort like Andy than that Tyson Fury plonker.

Who's this Tyson Fury guy? Is he related to Mike Tyson?

Ah the joy of not following any sport whatsoever!

If we could Retweet on here then this is exactly what I would do!

For years I would probably have said the same, as I am a very outgoing person who is full of expression and the like. But in the last few years I have met people who arn't all like that, and there is nothing wrong with that! Why should we expect our best sportspeople to all have personalities that transfer well to TV cameras immediately after a huge performance?! They are still people! And some are more comfortable speaking to a TV camera than others, they chose to try their profession to be the best in the sporting world, not the camera world!

I understand how people might not find Andy or others of a similar Ilk as personable as some others, but he is bloody good! And we should celebrate him for his achievements not for what the media would rather want him to be.

Well he's certainly a 'character'... taken one too many knocks to the head, or maybe not enough! If he was cast off to the dark ages, I think they'd send him back.

Yes you see it with Jamie Vardy, the media is gagging at the bit for the boy done good, rags to riches biopic. Just let the lad get on with it in peace, instead of filling his head with nonsense.

Heck in F1, Kimi gives the appearance as the quiet, iceman of few words, but we all know better.

Late to the party, but it's hard to believe GB has just won the Davis cup after where we were 5 years ago! In Zonal group 2 along with those giants of tennis Monaco and Macedonia. And let's remember the team climbed out of that hole without Andy's help so it's not quite a one man show. Such an incredible achievement. It's a shame to see the "British when he wins, Scottish when he loses" trolls crawling out of the woodwork online again, but there's always a few.

I've been a fan of Andy's ever since I read about a scrawny teen winning the US Open boys singles way back when. I guess I feel a bit overprotective of him, even though he's a few months older than me.

Well that's the formula one season over until March. Not the best, not the worst. Hope to see ferrari challenging the mercs next year (especially Kimi). Don't want another one team show.

Awesome stuff in the Davis Cup, it comes down to great matchplay because the strength of British tennis is still very weak but they nailed the matches that mattered.

JEH or Adam Peaty for SPOTY.
Davis Cup team for team of the year.
Katie Ledecky for overseas.

Hello all sorry but I was actually in Ghent for the Davis Cup Final and got a selfie with Andy and his signature after the presentation. Absolutely amazing experience and chuffed to bits with the result. Although now I am currently going down with a cold thanks to getting hardly any sleep from my trip there! https://twitter.com/footfaulttennis/...16519967977472

Can't believe Anita has gone over the awful Kellie and Kevin. He in particular makes my blood boil. So irritating.

Knew Anita was in trouble by the scoring yesterday.

And what a stitch up in X factor. How were R and B supposed to sing that song? It was clearly designed for her

I can't fathom how they've made it this far either.

That's why they should follow Aussie X Factor's lead and let the finalists record their own original winner's single. Even with a slight Afrobeats addition, there was no way Forever Young was ever going to suit their style.

Agree. Anita was my favourite Then again my least favourite went home last week, so I can't complain too much.

X Factor is so predictable.
