I never once got stressed at university, but I hated it.
Not the course but I realised that I hated students, especially the ones who thought they were cool turning up smelling of booze with greasy hair and the same clothes on as the night before. |

I got so stressed with uni I had to fake a break-in and a laptop theft to be granted an extension for my dissertation. Nightmare! I didn't know whether I was coming or going by the end of it...

I guess bbg can telll us if it is still the same, but...
The first year and especially the first semester can be a real shock to the system. Being on your own in a strange city is one thing, but also you have to work for and by yourself a lot more at Uni, you don't get fed the information as at school. It takes a bit of time to adjust. I used to work for Cardiff University a while ago. The first year is the hardest - the Uni would prefer you to drop out early so you don't waste your time and money, rather than later in the second or third year. Once you get through the first year, things become easier. Just hang on in there.

At my school we had to teach ourselves our A levels, one teacher decided to murder their mother and the school didn't replace them so we taught ourselves. Another just made Jewelry for sale therefore teaching us nought. So that aspect was not new actually, had more info than A Levels

I know what you mean. I have a geography presentation to do in a few weeks, and speaking in front of any number of people just terrifies the shit out of me. I've thought of nothing else for nearly a week.

Still hated the students tho

I posted a while back about being offered a place to do a semester at Georgia Southern in America.
Well, today I was contacted and said my application to be a foreign exchange had been accepted (!) but now they've thrown a massive spanner in the works- they've said I could do Aarhus in Denmark instead of Georgia so I'm in a quandry. Anyone got any experience of Aarhus (all I know is that it's like a shrunken Copenhagen and the Danish government will pay me to be there as they are in the middle of a PR whirlwind to turn Denmark into a global centre of higher education) or Georgia and can vouch for one or the other? |

Never been to any but I'd rather go to Denmark by a huge margin!!
I like the idea of going to America to study but probably somewhere a little more liberal than Georgia. The exchange officer will probably have a mental breakdown but over the course of the day my inherent love of all things Danish has been compelling me to switch and go there instead. I can't really speak much Danish but what better way to learn than actually living there (and the 250 Krone a month the Danish government will pay me is a big swing to!) |

That's what I'm thinking... and I'd be there for MGP (Copenhagen is only 3 hours away so I could make a day of it!)

For some reason I just feel the day to day life in Denmark would be so much better.
