You lot would have been jealous of my trip home today.

The iPod cable broke so we had to rely on choosing one of Dad's tapes without knowing what it was. The result was an Alcazar party.
You can't beat a bit of Alcazar on a drab Monday.

I like his music, but he's cheapening that every time he opens his ignorant mouth.

And to think people wanted him to represent the UK in 2007! I think I prefer Scooch in all honesty.

i had a bad feeling about that part for years.. i kept looking down and around to make sure i was on the right side of any cracks.. there is also another section further down, just before the squinty bridge, that looked in need of repair.. wonder if it has?

Looks like the cuts at S4C have hit this year's Can I Gymru song contest (on now) no big set, just the Cardiff Coal Exchange and a few tables instead if the usual LED set. Shows though you don't need an overblown production to select a song for a competition though.

I forgot about/wasn't even aware it was Mother's Day.

The reaction I've received is precisely why I think it (at least in the modern consumerist world) doesn't hold much meaning. If I had bought something, it would only have been because I was pressurised into it, and not as a symbol of affection.

^ Here the Mothers' Day is in May (always the 2nd Sunday of May). I remember seeing ads for it in the UK (already) when I was there last month though.
And even though I'm a mother myself I fully agree about the consumerist side...

Still around, have been watching all the historic ESCs between 1957 and 1990 (loaded on YouTube) via my new smart tv over the summer which was fun. I still find all the hype about last year's winner spoilt the whole contest for me although I was impressed with Loreen's interview on Breakfast. The Radio 1 playlisting has had no effect on perceptions of the Contest at the station or BBC though not that I'm surprised. I still feel though that last year will be seen in the future as the "Berlin Olympics" of the contest, the year the contest became a propaganda event for a dodgy political regime.

This year I've decided to go back to not listening to any of the selected songs so as to come at it completely fresh in May. I'm hoping the Swedes decision to scale back the production will also help focus more on the songs and performance and less on the graphic designer's ego, recently the performers have been overshadowed by hyperactive LED graphics which are too distracting. Compared to the older ESCs the stages have become too big, so well done to SVT if the have bit the bullet and said enough.

Who knows if there isn't too much overblown hype around one particular song this year I might eventually drift back here from time to time!

My god this thread fell off page one! Has no one had anything interesting happen in their lives?

Also will anyone else be watching Goodbye Television Centre tonight? It's a building I hold very close to my heart and I'll be very sad to see it all come to an end tonight. Plus it's the closure of a former contest venue!

I'll definitely be watching, it looks like it'll be brilliant, and very interesting for me as somebody who isn't all that familiar with its history!
