How will you watch tonight's semi-final, gotterz?
Still got Freeview but I've been looking forward to this for two weeks now so I'll probably still be pissed off tonight when the contest's on. Great.

Sadly not, the house is at the bottom of a bank and the tree is on top.

Took a day off work because they could only install it today.
That is annoying. At least it's nothing that a chainsaw couldn't fix

I did think about that before but I think it's on public land and I'm not sure when during the day I could actually do it: the area's too full of people to do it in the dead of night - they'd all get woken up, I'd be found out. Plus I'd have to buy a chainsaw and take the one remaining day I have off work. This sucks.

Glue a couple of mushrooms to the side and tell the council it's been infected, so they have to cut it down?

Edit: As a serious suggestion, a proper satellite engineer might be able to tell you if a larger dish (e.g. 1m) would help pick up enough signal around the tree, but that won't make the lost day off any less annoying

I've had to put up with watching the contest via Freeview this year too.

The picture and sound quality on Freeview is pretty crap compared to Satellite and cable. Never mind the fact I don't even have Freeview HD.

I'm watching the Semi-Finals on Freeview and I have brilliant picture quality.

Even BBC3 is better on Satellite than Freeview - everything gets heavily compressed so they can squash more channels into less space on Freeview, reducing picture and sound quality.

And it's not that Freeview is unwatchable, it's just that there are alternatives that are better and even more watchable

You what? Reminds me of an old urban legend where a chef in a cafe is cooking a steak pie for a customer in a microwave and because of a radiation leak he ends up cooking his kidneys.

I went out for a meal. The lasagne must have been fresh from the microwave because it hadn't cooled down at all after a few minutes, not even at the edges where I'd cut a gap. I didn't notice it in my mouth, but as soon as I swallowed I could feel my esophagus burn (like when you burn your hand on a stove). I fainted not long after.

Not the recently advertised Somersby cider? Brewed in Eurovision winner land?

Well, I've just been told my some moron on my Facebook to "go back where I came from", because I dared question their (frankly hideous) status that proclaimed "There ain't no black in the Union Jack".

I really should have responded "there's no c**t either".

Worrying how quickly some people's innate prejudice to a whole group of people can come rushing to the surface so fast.

I've just temporarily de-activated my account because people who should know better, and some of my more knuckle-dragging relatives, are gleefully reposting anti-Muslim bollocks.

Clearly I am from a completely different gene-pool to the rest of my family.

What the hell? Jesus Christ, I'm losing the will to live. Not surprised though, I know people like that.

I dare say most Muslims feel the same way about Islamic extremists as most Germans do about Hitler.

Struggling to sleep tonight but I have to say I'm a bit perplexed at the attitude if people I've seen on fb tonight.

I have many Muslim/black friends who are appalled by what they have seen today.

I also can't fathom how the news are classing this as terrorism. Surely it's just a couple of idiots!!

Sadly tho I can't seeing those ending up well. The general public will not take well to a soldier being murdered like this and I fear a lot of problems arising

It is one of the darker sides to Facebook that you get to see just what some people in your circle really think whereas in real life they probably wouldn't say such things. Sometimes I put it down to ignorance but a lot of the time you just realise that some people hide their dark side well. Similar things happened in the 1970s with Irish terrorism, after the Birmingham pub bombings in which an uncle of mine nearly got caught in one of the explosions (he'd left a few minutes before to catch the bus), some of my family were threatened by rednecks because they had the surname Killian, from my maternal great great grandparents who were Irish. There were even calls in the local press to deport Irish people at the time, which caused the family some concern seeing as they had never (and still haven't!) been to Ireland.

That's why I've temporarily suspended my Facebook account, I don't want to spend hours arguing the toss with my more bullnecked cousins and people I thought were better than they appear to be. My blood pressure wouldn't cope.

I was wondering this, too. Would they be calling it terrorism if a white person did it?
