I got a phone call from my Mum this afternoon telling me that Maddie, our wonderful chocolate Labrador had to be put to sleep this morning. She'd been diagnosed with diabetes in January and had to have 2 daily injections, she eventually lost her sight and last night she suffered a seizure. At least she is at peace now, I've been sobbing all night.

Aww she looks adorable, some people don't understand but they are like family members and its devastating when they go . You can at least take some comfort that she is no longer suffering and is now at peace.

I have a 17 year cat and I dread the day she dies and I know it won't be long now, she's a proper Diva though and you should hear the noise she makes when you walk in the kitchen and she wants feeding, its like we have been starving her or something.

Thank you very much for the sympathy guys, I feel better this morning, you guys are such a big help.

We still have another Black lab called Niamh who is now 12 in September. Maddie was only 9 so it's a bit gutting that she didn't live a full life but it's better to put an animal out of it's misery instead of letting it suffer even if it's a very painful decision to make.

I'm really sorry Foxy, it's a really rubbish time when things like this happen. It'll get easier and you'll be able to remember the good times soon.

What was she like?

She was very feisty and had many quirks. She happily curled up on the sofa with me during this year's Eurovision final. She did a few unusual things like licking the gas meter and picking socks off the washing line but it was those quirky things she did that made her so loveable.

Opening ceremony of the Olympics is on BBC3 again right now. I'm actually getting really emotional watching it. Such a great time to be British.

Got it on. We both got ready when team GB came out

Oh how I wish it was a year ago!!!

Heard an interview with an IOC member today and he said he would be happy for the Olympics to be here every time it was that good

Can't believe it's already been a year, so utterly surreal.

Actually wept during the Emeli Sande 7/7 tribute, I didn't do that last year and I'm not even drunk, just brilliant.

I bet FIFA were kicking themselves over the fiasco of awarding the 2018 World Cup after seeing the Olympics.

Oh my god you were so lucky! I would have given literally anything to have been there, applied for tickets and everything!

Got them via twitter, there was a whole group #2012tweeps who tried to get tickets mainly via EU sales and someone setting up a ticket checker which caused an alarm to go off if tickets for an event you want were on sale for a ticket.

In the end went to I think over 20 Olympic events.

My two trips to the Olympic Stadium the last two days meant I've been in it 9 times now. Like a second home to me.

Parrot bay they are called.

You put them in the freezer for 6 hours then squeeze then into your glass.

We're enjoying piņa coladas and citrus daiquiris. I'm sure I've seen a mojito one

I accidentally fell on a step on the stairs. No need for hospital or anything, but in a lot of pain, bit better though.

Was it in public?

I love seeing public falls!! Not so much the fall but the reaction afterwards of just trying to carry on as usual despite being mortified
