Apple customers live in a confusing world. Every time they see a picture of an apple in a shop or on a menu they can't understand why the cafe doesn't sell ipads and iphones! Well according to Apple anyway. Why does the company think we can't tell the difference between a café and an Apple shop? Bizzare. Apple don't do groceries., we all know that! I know where to buy Apple goods and what they look like.

That can't be real surely? How ridiculous if it is.

Apple are really opening themselves to ridicule. If they spent more money on innovation I might actually buy another one of their products.

And here will be some, like me, who support Apple in their patent disputes with HTC, Samsung etc but who think this case is bloody rediculous if as reported.

If it's a logo, isn't that about defending a trademark?

I wonder when they're going to sue God for the use of an apple to tempt Adam & Eve in the Garden of Eden.

Waiting for the day I walk in to my local supermarket and get told off for asking where I can find the apples since they do not seem to be on the shelf and then an Apple Patent officer reads me the riot act that I am not allowed to mention that word unless talking about their electronic device.

Sharp shooters will be put on streets and fooftops, if they get a sniff of you holding any other device apart from an idevice, expect to receive a bullet in the head. Whatever you do, leave the Androids at home!! or else team apple will go thermonuclear on you.

Ah yes a world dominated by a fruit company! Interesting times ahead.

“Apple brand is widely recognized and the company says that A.pl, by using the name that sounds similar, is using Apple’s reputation”

I had a Granny Smith last night which was rotten therefore I'm no longer interested in the iPhone 5 as everything to do with apple must be bad.

Seriously Apple need to get a grip. If your logo is an Apple, you can't lay claim to every picture of an apple.

This shop's logo isn't anything like Apple Inc's!

The article talks about the patent office, but I guess they mean the equivalent to http://www.ipo.gov.uk .

What is polish for apple?
What does a.pl sound like when pronounced in Polish?

1. Apple in Polish is "Jabłko"

2. When pronounced in Polish, a.pl sounds like this "Ay dot pee ell"

Who ever truly knows what they are on about you would think choosing a universally recognised item such an apple for you brand would be tough luck

So no confusion in Polish, but only if the words are Americanised.

I'm still waiting for them to sue fruit farmers for growing a fruit and that looks like their logo, and even having the audacity to call it an Apple!

It's like they actually want to destroy their reputation or something? Apple built up their success by creating a strong brand identity. Now - bit by bit - they seem to be slowly eroding that brand.

Sure, its not hurting them right now, but if they don't stop all this stupidity, it could one day leave them with a brand name that has been tarnished in the eyes of the public.
