There still needs to big a cull of EastEnders characters that for me are simply not working anymore...

There have been a number of threads about this but lets lay this out character by character.

Characters that need Axing

Billy Mitchell

While I have warmed to Billy recently I just dont see the point of him anymore - I would reunite him off screen with either Honey or Julie.

Perry Fenwick has been with the show since 1998 and its unlikely he will be axed unfortunely.

Lola Pearce

Motherhood seems to be appealing to Lola but like Billy she is a bit of a spare part.

Its possible Danielle Harold may be axed in a year or so or she may leave.

Mo Harris

Mo has never had a big storyline of her own and I just dont find her funny, again a real bit part player these days.

Like Perry Fenwick, Laila Morse is unlikely to be axed unless Jessie Wallace chooses to leave.

Ray Dixon

Ray is just not my cup of tea and I would axe him. I would also axe Morgan as well, they can leave Walford and start a new life elsewhere.

I think its possible Chucky Venn could be axed in 2013 or he may leave.

Tyler Moon

For the life of me and most DS fans why on earth is Tyler still there, there is nothing interesting about him and there is no depth at all. He should have been axed months ago and he is still there.

I think LN will bow to public pressure and axe Tony Discipline soon- he cant act and the character is just not needed anymore.

Whitney Dean
Whitney has been through it and done it, time for her to go.

Shona is a good actress and I would like to see her leave before Whitney gets tiresome to watch.

Lucy Beale
Lucy is just not a nice character, there is nothing there and in my opinion her twin Peter should have been brought back instead- get rid.

I dont think Lucy will be axed but Hetti may quit, if she does dont cast again- leave her in the past.

Characters that need Reviewing

Kat Moon

I think we have to separate Kat the character and Jessie the actress. Jessie is a fine actress but she is getting shocking material. Kat needs to be on her own and away from Alfie and out of the Vic- take her in a new direction if they cant do that then she should be axed. This is not the fault of Jessie Wallace its the writing team who have given her shocking material and turned Kat into a really unpopular character- Jessie deserves better material.

Jessie will quit if Kat continues the way she is...but hopefully Lorraine Newman can turn the character around but its going to take time.

Alfie Moon

I would like to see Alfie get together with Roxy, they are made for each other and please take him out of the Vic. I would also like to see some darker plots for Alfie- his comedy routine is tiresome.

Shane Richie seems to have a bit of an ego so we dont know what he may do, again he wont be axed, he would leave on his own terms but I dont think he will at least not yet.

Derek Branning

Derek is a strange one, I like him and I dislike him..he is on Old School East End but he is a nasty piece of work- but you need characters like that too.

I dont think Jamie Foreman plans to stay in EE much longer, I would be surprised if he is there after Christmas to be honest.

Joey Branning

When Joey arrived everybody thought he was the new Dennis, you cant compare the two, Joey is very much like his Dad, he loves Alice but that is it. I dont think David Witts is that much of an Actor, Joey is not cutting it...

Like Tony Discipline I think David Witts was employed for his looks- yes he is hot but acting wise he is a wet fish.

Kim Fox

Kim is funny but only in moderation, I like her but where is her character going?

What Corrie does best that EE really struggles with is humour, Londoners do have a sense of humour but if Kim is all they can offer us then its poor. Tameka Empson may quit at some point I think.

Bianca Butcher

Bianca has her family in the Square but Ricky is gone. I think the writers need to stop putting misery on Bianca, she needs a fresh direction or otherwise she should be axed.

Patsy Palmer needs to sort out her commitments to EastEnders, she has far too much time off for my liking and is very lucky. I think Patsy may quit if LN forces her to spend more time on set however,.

FatBoy

I like his relationship with Dot but at the moment he is a spare part- I would like him to have a romace with Alice, they would be good together.

Ricky Norwood has done well on EE but unless he gets better material he will be axed or he will leave.

Tamwar Masood

Since his wife left Tamwar has been a spare part. I think they need to look at his character and decide what direction if they one for him.

I don't understand why Billy is always on the axe list. Perry is a great actor and he delivers when given the opportunity.

I'd axe Kat, Derek, Joey, Lucy, Whitney, Tyler, Jack & Alice.

And regards to Lucy, just because someone is not a nice character, doesn't mean they should be axed...

I agree with dullagj2's statement about Billy. It'd be terrible if they axed him, he's been very loyal to the show and is quite integral to the history!

Jessie is a great actress as well I think the storyline is dragging Kat down as a character I think some Slaters like Little Mo and Lynne and Charlie and Zoe and Stacey need to come back and Kat and Alfie should split up and all the Slaters and Stacey Branning should all live in the old Slater house and the Slater girls and Stacey can work on the clothes stall again and Alfie could get together with Roxy and work in the queen vic still but not live there

I'm hoping that he is Kat's lover. They were getting close because of Tommy before Jessie went on sick leave and they certainly worked well together. Jack bedding random women is just not interesting.

Non of the characters you've listed need to be axed in my opinion. They just need better material. All characters have potential if the actor can act and all of the EE cast can act. You give reasons such as 'spare part' well that's hardly the characters fault or the actors - its the writers!

I never understand these 'axe' list to be honest. I respect your right to an opinion don't get me wrong, but if a writer is not focusing on a character it's not the character's fault or the actors. Maybe the list should be called 'which characters need more material'??

Unfortunately, I think Tyler's recent "win" will keep him around a little longer at least.

I half agree with the poster above, a lot of these characters being called for axing just need to be used and have storylines written for them.

Character's like Tyler however have just not worked in any of their stories since they arrived.
Hopefully they're just keeping him around for something for Whitney to do until her family return to keep her occupied.

I disagree about Billy, Mo, lucy and Ray
Billy has been on the show for 14 years axing him would be stupid, hes had great story lines and Perry proved he can act which unlike several actors now, if given a good storlyine he could be better.
Mo is like a comical side character i don't think she takes up the screen time of any other characters so she should stay but i think she should go off and visit one of the Slater Sisters for a couple of months.
Lucy isnt bad of a character so i think she'll stay for a bit, granted i do like Peter more and think he should return, lucy shouldn't be axed especially considering the show would have only two Beales and that's to small a number for a family who were on the square from the start when they had nearly a dozen.
Ray has only joined the show in January axing would be silly i think he could become a bigger character and have some storylines

I totally agree with others about not axing Billy - he has such a hard time on this thread. It's the storylines .. not the acting. Does anyone think that the missing post will ever turn up

And especially keep Lola, with good writing she could become one of the main characters.

I would axe Derek, what a badly written and acted character and issue Kat, Alfie, Jack and Mo with a final warning.

The most irritating character (IMO) is Masood's brother just awful, please don't tell me he was popular on his first visit and is going to be retained.

Just because you don't like the characters doesn't mean good actresses and good actors should be axed I think maybe we should all give them a chance and see what the writers do with them Bianca has always screeched but its part of the character and Roxy and Jack are not boring. Do you think Little Mo, Lynne, Charlie, Zoe and Stacey should come back and live in the Slater house and do the clothes stall? And do you think Alfie and Roxy should get together and then Alfie could work at the Queen Vic still but not live there?
