Firmware update 4.25 - 1GB cloud storage

The new 4.25 firmware is just an update for plus users. Updating the 150mb cloud storage to a massive 1gb.

Has anyone found any secret/hidden changes?

I'm surprised that Sony didn't include in the original plus firmware update the ability to change the upload limit server side. They are shit at making firmware if they didn't include such a basic oversight.

As nice a feature as it is, I would never use it.

It's quite clever by Sony to tie people in to PS+ in this way, for fear of losing access to everything they have saved.

No thank you, I will save it all locally

This forum will complain about anything, they give you more storage (something a lot of you here complained about) and now you complain about having to update and not trusting Cloud Storage??

In fairness, there have only been three comments on the matter! lol

Did they suddenly decide, oh I know we'll increase cloud storage! This could have been incorporated into one of the previous updates if any sort of planning was used. Also why couldn't they make it so they can just increase the cloud without doing any update, must be possible.

I use cloud and welcome the increased size, my 150 was over half full so this has come at a good time.

The increase was announced at Gamescom several weeks ago. I'm sure there are other things in the firmware which have not been revealed such as improved security which they are not going to publicly announce.

I only use cloud storage for locked saves, now I have 988MB free.

I am guessing this update also contains all the usual security and stability patches that come with most firmware updates.

At least we get a feature upgrade with this update unlike a lot of the more recent firmware updates.

That's what I thought too.

Do they really need to do an update to allow this?

Perhaps they only coded for a certain mb? A bit like when they only coded for 8bit computers and had to update for 16bit ones.

Wait, you guys think the update was to just change the file size? Wow, no wonder you lot are complaining.

The update also contained some security updates for various areas that Hackers are trying to get into, as well as a coverage for the Vita.

edit: Also a few changes for how PSN+ is handled by the console, nothing major, just looks like some speed improvements.

Dude, you do realise how it works?

You save locally and your saves are backed up online, automatically as long as you choose them to be and set-up system maintenance time.

It's not tying anyone into PS+ through this, it's just an additional back-up option.

Ah ok, well in that case no I didn't know how it worked! lol

Nice feature then. Means it's much easier after a HDD swapout.

Very good, thanks for clearing that up.

My used space looks tiny now compared to over 900mb available!

Shouldn't cloud storage be available to all users, not just PS+ subscribers?
