Just found this:

Rumor has it that Dr. Strange will make his Marvel movie-verse debut in Thor 2: The Dark World ...Normally I wouldn't post about something this seemingly unlikely, but his rumor comes from a dude named Roger Wardell who apparently has an excellent track record with inside Marvel movie info (according to /Film and others), so.... maybe? The other part of the rumors is that Marvel is in talks with Viggo The Carpathian Mortensen play the good Sorcerer Supreme.

It sorta makes sense: "Thor 2: The Dark World" is supposed
to feature evil wizards, and both Thor and Doctor
Strange tend to have the most "High Fantasy" adventures
of the Marvel regulars ( both encounter
other dimensions, demons, wizards, magic artifacts).

It'll be his second live-action outing since the bonkers tv movie from long ago.

Bonkers = rubbish.

I recall there was a UK TV show with Doctor Strange in. I used to have a photo of Strange floating in meditation position, but I cannot find any information about the show.

I know I didn't imagine it, but it's so obscure, it's not even on the Wiki page.

Anyone remember it?

To clarify: it's NOT that awful 70's movie, but it was about the same time (I think it was only about 6 episodes long).

There was an article on Digital Spy just the other day claiming Joel Edgerton was in line to play him.

Personally, I think Viggo is a better match. For some reason, I always imagine Dr. Strange to be a middle aged character, rather than someone in his 30's.

Maybe you're thinking of "Mystery Island", a live-action
serial that ran on US TV? It featured a Doctor Strange
as the villain:

I'm surprised Marvel didn't complain about the show
taking the name of one of their characters. Presumably
"Mystery Island II" would have featured the villainous
Spyder-Man.

Marvel Executive Victoria Alonso has come out and said Viggo Mortensen is not going to be Doctor Strange

"We would love to work with Viggo Mortensen. I've been trying that for years," she said. "But I don't know if Viggo is even acting anymore. I thought he wasn't acting anymore. It would be great to work with him in the future, but we don't have him signed, no."
