That's a difference of £299 for less space. So, several hundred pounds.”

Yet people still will find a way to defend Apple. They are just running out of USPs. Oh wait that happened a while ago.

Well apparently the iPhone 5 is now the best smartphone on the market.

Yes pretty sure it will, my iPhone is first gen, cracked screen and battered to hell and it still works fine and i have no intention of upgrading until it dies screaming in its own battery acid.

You got a faulty one, it was supposed to break down years ago

When the iphone 4 launched DS went balistic, thousands of posts within a few hours, when the 4s was launched things were more muted, the 5 is here and I'd expected a LOT more talk on DS about it. Perhaps the bubble has burst for apple?

I've only had a quick look but it seems apple are now playing catchup with the S3.

Nothing is magical anymore. Jobs had style, he could turn water into wine Now we get a guy with a shirt hanging over his jeans.

Never let a little thing like accuracy get in the way of a good apple bashing thread

People are aware that they don't have to buy one?

Think I'll stick with my 3GS, still works fine, but if I did change then I think it's bye bye apple for my part

Apple arent stupid. They charge what they do knowing they will sell shed loads. If people are prepared to pay that price then thats upto them. I wont, so I dont care what price the new iPhone is. If people arent happy with the price...dont buy No one HAS to have a new iPhone.

You may realise the iPhone isn't the only phone where you cannot expand the storage. At least you have the option of buying a higher capacity device. You don't have that with say the HTC One X.”

Which is why Apple are not trying to get HTC phones banned in the US.

Samsung have just peed all over them, and they know it.

That's nice for now, but resentment sets in at some point. Apple are not immune to customer disatisfaction forever.

16GB Galaxy S3 is cheaper, and can take a 40 quid 64GB micro SD card (the iPhone has no memory expansion slot!)

I don't think a lot of Apple customers are, to be honest.

I can quite conceivably see many of them either still blindly buying inferior hardware, or floundering in desperation at what to do next.

Do people really need that much memory - I've got a iphone 3Gs that I've had since launch and it's still got 6gb of space on it

I'm finding I need 32GB now and that's the capacity of iPhone 4S I have and likely the capacity of iPhone 5 I will buy.

I have a 64GB iPad 2 and find I'm only using about half the space so 64GB does seem to be overkill

That's why I went for a 32GB ipad - seems to be more that enough for me

The thing is, a HTC One X comes with 32GB of storage [+ 50GB Dropbox free] and costs as little as £349 new [SimplyElectronics]. Apple are charging £180 more for 16GB less storage...

Also, for only £509, you could buy a SIM-free 32GB Samsung Galaxy S3 + 64GB MicroSD [and it comes with 25GB of Dropbox storage]

I think that I think is very true.

He was unique and knew what his customers wanted more than the rest of Apple put together.

Without him Apple may well eventually turn into just another tech company.

Well I need a lot of memory. Started with a 16GB iphone 3 but found myself in need of more memory. Got a 32GB iphone 4 but also filled that up. Now have a 16GB galaxy note with 32gb SD card installed. So around 48gb of memory. Have about 4 GB free. So I'm ok on memory now but may get a 64gb card at some point. It depends on what you put on there, I have a lot of music, videos and audiobooks on my phone.
