Hi,
My dad's got a foxsat, and he's having various problems with deleting files and performing other functions, where he needs to put in the default password to complete the function. It's driving him (and me) mad, as he keeps bending my ear about it. I've scanned this forum, and read that a reset my help, but can anyone explain what is happening, and if a reset will fix it for good ?

Many thanks
Roy

Sounds like he's managed to lock some recordings. File Manager has a lock/unlock function. Full details page 59 in the manual.

In addition to previous reply.

Also have a look at page 28 in the user guide regarding padlock. Sounds like he may have somehow invoked 'Channel Lock'. Press MENU choose 'Edit Channel List' and look for any channels with padlock symbol. Highlight affected channels and the 'green button' will toggle channel lock on and off.

With regard passwords. Sounds like he has got 'Guidance Policy' enabled - see page 42 in user guide. Press MENU look for 'Guidance Policy' entry and 'Right Arrow' to change setting from enabled to disabled. This should disable the password. Any existing password may need to be entered to complete this action. Not sure on this point as have never had a password set myself.

Not tried it myself, but I think a 'full reset' to factory defaults will clear all these unwanted settings, but this will delete any saved recordings and require a full 'first time' installation to be performed. So use as last resort.

AFAIK a factory reset will not delete saved recordings but will certainly clear the recording schedule so make a note of these before you go down this road.

Poor use of terminology used in my earlier post. Night Watchman's phrase is what I meant.
