Avoiding a burnt cake
I'm making a heart-shaped walnut victoria sponge cake, but it's still not cooked through after 35 minutes in the oven(skewer is till wet when inserted) so I've put it back in the oven with some foil covering the cake. Is this the right thing to do to avoid my cake from burning before it's cooked ?

It should be ok for now. If you are concerned then wrap brown paper round the outside and about six inches higher than the cake and tie with string. Happy baking pal. |
